A while ago my girlfriend got very upset because i was not able to maintain my erection during intercourse because what she was doing did not feel particularily good. Since then i have had huge problems with trying to achieve and maintain an erection before intercourse.
Everytime we are about to have sex all i can think about is if i am going to be able to get hard or not and the thought is what stops me from being able to achieve erection. Even when i am hard i still think about whether or not i will be able to stay hard and that then causes me to lose my erection.
How can i block out this pre-intercourse anxiety? it is ruining my sex life completely.

I am going trough the same thing. It is called performance aniexty. I am 37 years old, been married 9yrs, and never had a problem until last October. Now everytime time I know we are going to have sex I get myself worked up enough to where I can not perform. It is very aggrevating, becasue everthting you read tells you to relax and not think about. Easier said than done. I have found that if my wife surprise me with spur of the moment sex then I seem to perform OK. If it is planned then I take Levitra or Viagra. It works really good. I have never had a problem acheiving or maintaing when taking these. It also helps if your girlfriend is understanding of the problem. My wife is pretty good at working with me on this.
Maybe think of something else sexy before you know you're gonna have sex, to get yourself excited. Think of a past lover or a pornstar or something. Something that usually has your penis hard in a 2nd.
Try some relaxation exercises such as controlling your breathing. Take slow deep breathes in and out and you'll find you relax. If possible breathe out longer than you breathe in (although learning this takes some time). You should find yourself relaxing.
If you still can't perform then some anti impotence drug could help but best to avoid them until you've tried other methods as you don't really wanna use drugs when a drug free method could also work. Cialis is suppossed to be good.

Reason: Terminology. Please use proper terminology.

If your Testosterone is low like mine, plus my proactin is high, then it can be difficult to achevie an erection which make your performance aniexty that much worse. I use to think of something that would turn me on and be hard in a second, now I think of something and it can take a few minutes, sometimes as long as five mintues.
Do like ajhill said and just try to breath and relax, think of something sexy. If you still have trouble go to the docor and get your blood check. Have him check your Testosterone, Estrodial, and Prolactin.
