fissure and anal intercourse

Hello All:

I've been dealing for years with a fissure that will not heal. I've had a colonoscopy and the MD confirmed that the bleeding is coming from the fissure and that it's not something worse. Still, a fissure can be very painful!

I will admit that I've not done a good job of maintaining good fiber and liquid intake. In fact, I drink a lot of soda so the caffeine probably aggravates the fissure even more. My MD gave me a nitro cream to try to relax the schincter so it can heal properly but it has not helped.

Here's where my story takes an interesting turn. I am a gay man but my fissure has completely eliminated my ability to have receptive anal intercourse. Everytime I try it ends up a bloody mess and with today's STDs I am fearful of transmission through an open fissure.

My question: Has anyone ever had a fissurectomy or sphincterectomy and been able to have intercourse without tearing open the healed fissure? This is a question I plan to discuss with my MD but I thought I might be wise to get some advice from others who have been in similar situations.

Thanks so much for any advice you can provide.

Re: fissure and anal intercourse

No I haven't had/experienced what you are going thru, but I do have a question..
I'm a bit comfused with the medical term you are using. The fissure. Is it a tare in the skin lining/anus opening? Is the condition farther up in the lower colon?
Had the condition healed and you've reinjured yourself?
If the condition had not heal and you had sex, then of course it will take much longer to heal.
On a nother note:
Sometimes the skin/area looses it's elasticity after a surgery/wound, or scar tissue forms. So, this also would explain, retaring/spliting the area. If this is the case, you may not ever have the freedom you've enjoyed for so long.
Perhap when having this type of sex, from now on, you will have to be mindful of the size of guy you're with.

Cleansweep

Just do a search on a well known search engine for anal fissure and you will find all the information you want on this.
