Can a porn/masturbation addiction lead to E.D.? I'm only 23.
Hello all, first post here. Needed someplace to ask this.
Anyways, I'm currently 23, and I've never been able to have sex without the use of Viagra. Even with Viagra, it oftentimes requires a blowjob or something before I get hard. There are a couple issues in my life that I think might lead to this, so I thought I'd ask the board's opinion.
1.) Porn/masturbating addiction
I've been obsessed with pornography and masturbation since the age of 12. I thought about it constantly, and masturbated numerous times a day. Currently, I masturbate one to three times a day.
I'm sure this rate of masturbation isn't that odd, but I think my usage of pornography is. Ever since I got a computer in my room in high school, I've spent a downright embarrassing amount of time looking at porn. Some times, it's just a brief view of a porn movie and an ejaculation, but other times, it's a 6-8 (or more) hour session involving me masturbating on cam for women.
I've talked to a psychologist about the porn, but haven't mentioned the cam stuff to anyone but message boards. I'll seriously browse chat rooms for countless hours, looking for a woman to talk to me on mic while she watches me masturbate. At this point, I do this maybe 2-4 times a week. Also, during the process of finding a woman, I'm not just sitting there. I'm generally stroking and maintaining an erection for hours on end.
This makes me think the E.D. is not physical, but psychological. I can be in bed with a naked attractive woman, and not feel a tinge of activity down there, but when I sit down at the computer screen and log in, I feel myself getting excited.
2.) Drinking
I've had sex with 11 women, and every single time has been while I was pretty damn intoxicated. I don't really "date" or do any of that stuff, so my sexual history is a product of meeting women at bars and sleeping with them.
I'm really tired of having to pay for Viagra and worry about taking it an hour or two before I might get laid. I dated a girl a few months back and hated telling her to call me an hour in advance if she planned on coming over. I want to be able to have spontaneous, normal sex with women.
What advice do you have for me? I'm sure the drinking is part of the issue, but do you think the porn/masturbating is a large part of the problem? Would an extended period without porn kick-start my excitement with real women?
Re: Can a porn/masturbation addiction lead to E.D.? I'm only 23.
You have trained your body to like porn and commitment free sex. We both know you need to knock off the internet stuff and start looking for a lady you can connect with on more than a sexual level. Six hours a day of looking for sex means you need something else in your life to get you out of the house and doing something worthwhile. You are really wasting your 23 year old life away dude. There is nothing wrong with masturbation in the meantime, just not with porn, because unfortunately porn is pretty powerful stuff and you like it way too much. I would try to limit it to two 15 minutes quickies to satisfy the urge but avoid the net.
Are you saying that you take viagra when you masturbate, or just when you are with someone real? If its both, I'd say better knock off the viagra and give it all a break for a few weeks and see if the natural will come back.
I presume you are drinking a lot because you have some pain to hide. You have to deal with the pain and obviously you need to cut that back or off too because it's just a big waste of time as well.
Re: Can a porn/masturbation addiction lead to E.D.? I'm only 23.
I only take the Viagra before sex. It's not an issue with masturbation at all.
And as for the drinking, it's purely social. I've been drunk hundreds and hundreds of times, but NEVER alone. I never feel a need to drink, it's always been when my friends are going out and I join them. Keep in mind, I'm 23, there's a lot of social drinking going on at this age. Then again, I recently graduated college and moved out of the college town so it might be taken down quite a bit.
Re: Can a porn/masturbation addiction lead to E.D.? I'm only 23.
Yes and yes.
If you try to stop masturbating and try to stop watching porn, you will likely find you go through withdrawal... you will fell terrible. Your mind will come up with a million very rational reasons why you should engage in both.
If you want to beat the porn/masturbation addiction, you will have to go through withdrawal, however.
If you can go a month without any alcohol, and without any masturbation and pornography, you will be on the way to a normal, enjoyable sex life. Once your body and mind get back into balance, I suspect you will be able to engage in sexual intercourse without alcohol and without viagra, and you will be able to enjoy occasional sessions of masturbation if you want (but without pornography).
As you are aware of your addiction, you know that you can NEVER look at pornography--once you start, it will be a speedy downward slide. If you can't beat the addiction on your own, seek out a support group or counseling or both.
You are very lucky to be detecting this about yourself at age 23, and not trying to combat this problem in your 40s or 50s after suffering through divorce, custody battles, and possible embarrassing court appearances as a result of the destructive effects of a sex addiction.
Good luck. Find a close friend or two with whom you can talk about all of this without hiding anything. This needs to be out in the open, in the sunshine, so you can start to take charge of your life.

"I have no insecurities with anything outside my erectile dysfunction."
Wow, you said that with a straight face. I don't think that is true, for any human being.
You may have a fetish for exhibitionism. If it's unarousing to be with a girl, and you have to take viagra at 23, this makes a case for something else happening.
If you have to rely on viagra at 23, what are you going to do at 53?
This strikes me as really unhealthy, as well. I am a big fan of porn, but it doesn't interfere with my sex life, nor my social interactions. If that were my life, I would take a good, long, hard look at it. There is not much of a future in the path you have set your feet upon, other than getting older and not being as handsome to the camera. Other people have someone to hold them, to love them, to share their thoughts, fears, desires, and hopes.

you will have to get rid of the viagra and the internet. they are both crutchs for you. unless you need the net for work you should have it removed from your house.
Porn is ok but when it becomes what it has for you its a problem.
you hav eto use the viagra because the real thing isn't as exciting as the stuff you see on the net.
my suggestion stop doign everything for a couple of weeks. no porn (remove it from your house), no self pleasure. then try to find someone to go on a date with or go get oen of your one night stands with out the booze (booze causes ED) I bet you will be able to perform with no problems

Hmm...good idea. 99% of my porn is on my computer (almost 100 gigs, it's ridiculous), so I should just stay away from it. I wanted to start yesterday, but sure enough, I watched some. It was only briefly, but I need to stay away period.
And I've got a girl I just started dating, so it would be pretty easy to test this out.
You seriously think I should go without any masturbation at all, even if it's without porn?

Wouldn't I *** in like 2 seconds if I've gone that long without any stimulation? I've never had that problem before, but I could sure see that happening given the circumstances.
Anyways, I don't think I can go through with deleting the porn. It's a damn huge collection that I've built up over years and years.
I am, however, going to see how long I can go without watching ANY porn or masturbating at all. The last time I did was last night, so I've got a bit of a Seinfeld "Contest" situation going on now. Hopefully I last longer than Kramer did.

can a smoker quit smoking if he keeps a cartoon of cigs on the kitchen counter, can a alcoholic keep from drinking when he keeps a fully stocked bar in his living room, can a hereoine addict stop the habit if he keeps some needles and hereoine on the coffee table?
no
They have to remove the temptation or they will fail. oh they may say they can but they wont. Remove your temptation until you have yourself under control. Its just porn. its not soemthign important. delete it.
Re: Can a porn/masturbation addiction lead to E.D.? I'm only 23.
Here's a suggestion. I know how much I love my porn, how much it would hurt to delete it, and how dumb it was to throw away my favorite mags when I was 13 or so, and trying to stop. I also know I am addicted. I can go without, but would hate to lose the fix permanently.
I don't have the willpower beyond a week, and I bet neither do you.
Get a new drive for your computer. Take out the one with the porn, and give it to a friend you can trust. and tell him not to give it back to you before xxxx date. Install the operating system on the new drive.
That way, you have nothing to lose, which can't be replaced, and you get the full benefit of the experiment, without worrying.
If you *** in two seconds, who cares. Pay her plenty of loving attention, give her all the satisfaction she needs, and go for another try. This also takes away any worry.
Re: Can a porn/masturbation addiction lead to E.D.? I'm only 23.
Try switching all your attention to something which will be really absorbing, for 15-20 minutes. It will give your brain, and your desires, a chance to cool down.
Best of luck with this one.

Hello. I wanted to share my 2cents, probably shouldn't be responding on this message board, but here goes anyway..
I've been married to my husband for 12 years. He's a porn addict. BAD! It has destroyed our family, put our kids through hell from separations, we are in financial troubles, broken trust, ect... Now, my 17 year old son is addicted to porn. From finding it throughout our house his entire life. I have left my husband numerous times. I've been back this time for 5 months. So far, I have seen no sign of it. Maybe he's learned his lesson? He hit rock bottom and did some pretty low things while I was gone. Maybe it made him realize he had an addiction. I don't know.
My advice,,,,, My husband is 42, been battling this demon for over 20 years.
STOP now, before you put yourself, your future wife and children through emotional hell!!!!!!
Re: Can a porn/masturbation addiction lead to E.D.? I'm only 23.
I personally don't see any harm looking at porn . What has your husband done to you other than looking at porn ? I often peak at porn sites , but I also make sure no pop ups or anything else is on here for my family to see.
Scotty , stop masturbating ! If your having problems in that department use your head ...Your masturbating to often . Your Gal won't be to impressed when you can't perform for her ..

Re: Can a porn/masturbation addiction lead to E.D.? I'm only 23.
Interesting thread... I have to admit that I was (and possibly still am, but hopefully not) hooked on porn. There were evenings when my, now ex, girlfriend was in bed, probably hoping that I would come on up, and I'd be on the pc till stupid o'clock looking at porn sites.
It was reading this over the Christmas period, that made me think hard, and decide once and for all that I had to stop. The images and videos required to turn me on were getting more and more extreme, and I think that has had a detrimental effect in the real world, where I'd have difficulty getting an erection at the thought of just normal sex.
I honestly thought I was impotent, or suffering from erectile dysfunction, but the reality is that I was not getting turned on by what people should due to becoming desensitised. I think the only thing to do is to stop porn all together, and focus on good old fashioned normal sex.
It's like most things, its ok in moderation, but can easily become addictive. Once it's become addictive, the only way is to probably go completely without. There was a show on tv not long ago with a lad on who was addicted to porn, and wasn't able or interested in holding down a relationship due to his porn addiction... Not the way I want to go!
Re: Can a porn/masturbation addiction lead to E.D.? I'm only 23.
Alright look man, I am having the same problem and decided to google it. This message board came up, I read ur post and had to make an account just to adress this. First of all I completly understand what your going through. Since I was 11 I'd say Ive been addicted to porn. About two months ago I was with my girl friend and I couldnt get a hard on. It scared me so bad that I just went completly cold turkey, and I've been clean since. Even still though I find it hard to become completly erect with a woman versus the PC. I hope I will get my old drive back, but MAN YOU GOTTA CUT OUT THE PORN if you want to normal sex life again.
