Hi,
Almost every single time I have used a condom, it has either:
a) Come off during sex and is found on the bed or wherever
b) Come off during sex inside the woman
c) Is completely split open so that the condom just is left circled around the base of the penis.
a) has happened about five times, b) has happened about three times, and c) has happened about three times. There's been a few of other times wearing a condom when none of these happens, but all of those I stopped before ejaculation. In fact, I have NEVER came inside a condom, I haven't really bloody had the chance! All other times I've had sex it has been with my ex-girlfriend on the pill. Before her I was not sexually active, however I am now, and not with the same partner. One day it could really turn out with bad repercussions.
What the hell am I doing wrong? I know how to put them on, and follow the instructions exactly. Get rid of that bubble at the top. Etc. I swear I'm doing it right as do the girls.
I despise condoms, they're supposed to work! I am slightly above average size (7") but nothing that should cause me to get specialist condoms! And the condom seems to fit fine at the start. We only ever notice the condom has gone walkabout/broken some time after it has happened, which is pretty bad as I'm sure you can imagine.
Hope you can help, this has happened so often, esp. recently now that I'm not with my ex, that it has become beyond a joke.

what do you mean get rid of the bubble? I hope you're not putting it on all the way without leaving the little bubble part there....you have to leave the little bubble part there or it will break because the sperm has no where to go.
Na I've never had any discomfort or anything. They seem fine to me, and are fine through most of the sex. We just always discover by the end that it's either gone or split at some point!
If they're splitting off it sounds like they're too big.. but if they're splitting it sounds like they're too small! Maybe they're being pulled off by motion + how tight she is or if she's using her muscles (kegels I think it's called) just a thought.. I have no idea really.. and if that was the case, I wouldn't know how to prevent it other than being careful and paying attention to how you're moving.
Other suggestions would be to try various sizes and brands. Maybe try the condoms out while masturbating.. ?? just an idea, definitely not the same as sex, but it may help.
The condoms I use are either Durex or "Safe Hands Condoms". I buy them from condom vending machines in various places. It'd be pretty hard to be selective about what condoms I chose. Thanks for your help though guys.
And I'm not sure if it's the girl's muscles or whatever, because it's been with different girls.

I don't think those are very strong. Try a good brand like Trojan
Why would it be hard to be selective? They sell condoms at walgreens, etc.....not just vending machines. Who knows if the vending machine condoms have passed their expiration date? Buy a box of good quality condoms at walgreens and see if it makes a difference.
Na we don't use lubricant, and I make sure she's properly ready, if you get me, before we start And it's never been ridiculously tight.
I guess I'll have to grow up and buy some properly rather than taking the easy way out and getting them from machines. Everyone else seems to though - I wonder why it doesn't work for me? The last time I used a condom it was one the girl had that she got from a pack, not from a machine, and that split too. Although that was also Durex. Durex are one, if not the, most well-known supplier of condoms (at least here they are), so I'm suprised/annoyed they don't work for me.
PS. I haven't heard of Walgreens, I guess it's an American store, but there'll be stores here that do them. I don't really know of good brands other than Durex here though. I guess I jsut gotta fish around.
Are you guys sure it's the condoms and not me? None of my friends have this problem.

You have two totally different problems going on here. The first one, that it falls off, would normally be caused by the condom being loose. Since you aren't small, the only thing I can think of is that either you go a little soft at some point which is enough to get it to slip or that it isn't rolled up enough and the rim is catching and rolling itself back up due the obvious. Do you ever check during intercourse that it's still completely rolled as high as it can go?
The second problem, breakage, is usually caused by lack of lubrication (which you wouldn't necessarily notice) or expired condoms. Maybe you should be using lube, if they're tearing. All it takes is too much friction in a drying vagina and it's over.
Thanks Thisby for your reply. You are most likely right with the former, as, possibly because I hate condoms, or other reasons that come to mind, I sometimes struggle to maintain a full erection with the condom on, even if it's just briefly, and this probably makes it likely the condoms will come off. I rarely check if its fully rolled down during intercourse, do you suggest I pull out every so often and roll it back down if it's come up?
The second problem, I'm not so sure of. The girl usually seems wet, and it can be kinda awkward to suggest lube, and it can be seen as a bit weird (even though it shouldn't) to use lube for vaginal sex between two young people. Then there is the matter of which lubes don't damage condoms. I'm trying to remember now if it's just the current girl I've been seeing that the condom has broken with, or another too. It might just be the current one, which may mean I won't have this particular problem with other girls (although will likely still have the slipping off problem instead).
If they're splitting off it sounds like they're too big.. but if they're splitting it sounds like they're too small!
Is that how it is? I always thought if it fell off it meant you were likely too small, and if it split you were likely too big. Kinda makes more sense that way too.
yes walgreens is one of the biggest pharmacy chains in america. didn't notice you were in England! I'd try a trojan or a trojan magnum and see what you think.
I think Thisby is probably on the right track: falling off b/c you're not staying as hard as you could be, which makes more room so to speak in the condom which allows for your penis to slip out. Which is sorta what would happen, I think it, if the condom was too big.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, if it's splitting it could mean that its too tight on your penis, meaning the condom was too small (or your penis too big for that particular condom brand, if you prefer to hear it that way!) If it's too tight on your penis, your sperm will have no where to go when you ejaculate, so the condom breaks. Or, as Thisby said, it breaks b/c of lack of lubrication, that plus friction can lead to breakage.
I highly suggestion avoiding vending machine condoms. As Rose said, you have no clue how long those things have been in there! Expired condoms can definitely be "dried up" and break more easily. If you're man enough to be having sex, then you're man enough to walk into a drug store and buy a box of condoms!! I only use Trojan. You should buy a box of Trojan Lubricated and Trojan magnums (magnums are larger). Try the magnums on alone, before having sex with someone.. b/c if it turns out they're too big it will just slip off.
Otherwise, pausing for a moment during sex to make sure the condom is still on fully is not a bad idea. Sometimes stopping in the middle helps build excitment and anticipation, so don't be afraid of spoiling the moment!
Thank you all for the help. I will buy some condoms when I get round to it, and in the meantime take your other suggestions into account. The maintaining-full-erection will be the hardest (excuse the pun) thing to deal with, but I reckon I'm already on track to getting better.
I'll reply in this thread if I see results (or lack of)!
Edit: Just bought some Trojan Twisted Pleasure condoms online

The one question no one asked is are you pulling your foreskin back before rolling the condom down over your penis? Its ok squeezing the air out of the end but if you leave your foreskin covering your glans, then put the condom on the first thing you are going to do on entry is stretch the condom as you thrust.
And for heavens sake, in the UK you can buy condoms in any garage, supermarket or convenience store - dont be shy the checkout people see them all the time.
Try Avanti from Durex, good for larger penises and no worries about any type of lube because they are plastic based. If not, try any extra strong / extra protection - these are made for "rougher" sex and should be fine whatever!
Yeah I roll the foreskin back. I put the condoms on exactly as they are meant to.
I've ordered some Trojans now so I'll see how it goes when they arrive, when I next have sex, whenever that is (possibly not for a while as I've just been ****ed over by the girl I was seeing recently!)
