I'm 19 years old. WHY IS THIS HAPPENING TO ME!?

ok well im only 19 years old i should be at my sexual peak!!

i hooked up with somebody the other day and during the initial excitement i was able to get hard but after less than a minute i lost that erection very quickly.(and this is a common theme that has been going on..)

i now notice that i seem to have this problem even in the comforts of my own home...i can start to touch myself and i have no problem getting a half-way erection but then out of nowhere i lose it and im unable to maintain it or make it get any harder.....if i wait a while and start touching myself i am once again able to get hard quickly but lose it just as fast.

what the hell is going on? at first i thought it mightve been performance anxiety but why is this happening even in the comforts of my own home?? IM ONLY 19 this is seriously screwing with my social life...

my father is a diabetic i read that diabetics might have erection problems but i dont think im diabetic??? i also read some guy named "joe" on here had tinnitus (ringing in the airs) or something and found a tumor in his pituitary gland...i also ahve some rining from time to time is this affecting my dick?

guys i dont need this in my life right now im already so **in depressed from other things and now this is another thing added to the pile ...ugh

well the first thing you should do is talk to a doctor. Go to your regular doctor, discuss it, request hormone levels be checked. If you search some of my threads you will find a whole list of hormones to be checked. In my case they found a tumor and i start Testosterone therapy this week.

would not being able to HOLD the erection be due to hormone levels???

i can get an erection fine but holding it and making it go to the full potential is more of the problem...

what would cause an inbalance in hormone levels? i am a pretty healthy guy? and im young..

could it be because i watch too much porn/masturbate too much (i used to masturbate at least once a day sometimes 2)

ive since stopped masturbating (its been about 5 days) and i dont really see that much improvement...

id hate to have to start injecting my penis with testosterone everytime i have sex

dont those things ahve alot of side effects??

Your masturbation habits are not unusual.
You need a general physical exam with general blood work. Tell your doctor what is (not!) happening. Also tell him of anything else that may be bothering you emotionally.

haha no no, you dont inject your penis. That really would be a horriable fate. Im taking my testosterone once a day in the form of a cream on my shoulder. Some guys get shots weekly i think and its in their arms. But you shouldnt worry about testosterone therapy yet, first talk to your doctor

If you can get an erection and then goes limp, how long after the erection does it do this right away or/minutes?
it could be that your having a ''phychological moment'' obviously, but if you can get erect touching and then stop touching it goes down? you need to see a uroligist specialist ...sounds a little different from the start of ''ED'' but can't rule that out either...what I don't understand is that you say you can get it erect by touching then if you stop touching it goes down?
if you think about having sex and things of this nature can you get an erection ? without touching it just by way of thought or by seeing?
either way I would go see the Doctor and the sooner the better.

i can get it erect by touching it but i cannot maintain the eretion it disapears very quickly....

maybe it has something to do with my veins or my penis not being able to hold the blood??

Re: I'm 19 years old. WHY IS THIS HAPPENING TO ME!?

actually being horny means you have a ''high sex drive''

If I was you I would go make an appointment with the Doc, let them do some blood work, you may have an underlying problem that if they catch it in time then you will be fine.
I'm not sure what causes low testrone level, thats what Doctors are for.
age is about the only thing I know of but if your 19 that should not be the problem but it can happen in younger men such as yourself.
If you keep having this problem go see a Doctor.

CaBoy;

Hoooooold on here. Don't freak out. It sounds to me like it's a mental issue. Trust me, I have the same problem.

If you worry that you can't get it up, it'll stress you out and you won't be able to. You'll get over it someday.

I am dealing with the same problem and yes, it sucks. Real bad. I believe Cialis works for this (claim-to-fame is that it's a 36hr pill for "whenever the moment is right") however I am unable to try it out due to my miserable health insurance.

Re: I'm 19 years old. WHY IS THIS HAPPENING TO ME!?

Definantly go see your doctor. Discuss with him what you're going through, get your hormone levels checked, thyroid, prostate exam, etc, and if all that comes back good, go see someone who specializes in sex therapy, could be a mental block or some other issue going on. If I was male, I'd go through everything before considering being on ED meds, seeing as you are only 19 yrs old. But first you need to CALM DOWN, take a deep breath and relax! Make yourself an appointment and figure this out. The least amount of stress you put on yourself, the better you will be

Good Luck!

since you can get it erect at least for a brief period of time i would suggest using a penis ring while in that position.

I think you'd see a urologist, they are trained to deal with the male reproductive/urinary tracts. But you may also try your general practitioner, since you may need a referal and they can also point you in the right direction. So start with your GP, he/she should be able to tell you where to go next Hopefully you will get some answers soon.
