Question black head type bump on penis

Hello, I'm 19 and as long as i can remember i've had 2 "black head" type bumps on the bottom of my penis. These bumps are less than 1/2 cm below the head on the underside of the shaft. Also, if i squeeze them, they "pop" just as a black head would. I semi-hard substance comes out that seems exactly the same as a black head. These two bumps never go away though. I could pop them every day and the next morning they will be right there, in the same exact place... Any ideas on what this could be?

Re: black head type bump on penis

They probably are blackheads, or comedones. They form in hair follicles from dead skin cells and sebum secreted from sebaceous glands and bacteria which lives on the skin into a white, semi-hard substance as you describe.

The outer portion of the mass turns black because of oxidation, showing that the follicle is open to the air. If this follicle is closed, it either becomes a "whitehead" which can also be squeezed out but isn't black on top or, if there is enough infection and it becomes inflamed, a pustule, or "zit"....

They can form quickly, and tend to form again in the same places over and over again.... because the hair follicles which have hosted them are distended and open after you squeeze them out.

There is an over-the counter product called Clearasil Max 10 which contains benzoyl peroxide. It works by removing dead skin cells from the area and killing bacteria on the skin. This is the material from which the blackheads form, so a few applications of it might cause them not to return by allowing the follicle openings to normalize in size again. Squeeze them out, then apply to the area.

Repeat application after a bath or shower. Water washes it back off.
