masturbation

hey, 18 uncut male here..
I've masturbated the same way since i can remember, on my bed and rubbing sheets against my penis which really got me off..

Anywho, in the shower the other day, I tried masturbating like most people do..and i could not *** at all..or even precum..instead, **** came out. What's with this? Normal at all? How can I masturbate the common way?

Re: masturbation

In the first place, masturbating in the shower, standing up, is probably not "like everybody else" habitually does it, though most guys have probably done it that way at times. My understanding is that most boys or men usually pleasure themselves lying on their back in bed, and "pumping" with their hand, or squeezing rhythmically if tightly circumcised and not using a lubricant; or lying on their side and thrusting into their fist (hence the expression "f---ing" your fist), or humping the bed or pillow without using their hands at all. You're making a pretty big jump, going from lying in bed rubbing yourself with the bed sheets, to standing up AND doing it in water. Standing up requires a different kind of effort, and water can have a dulling effect on sexual sensations. If you're wanting to experiment with different approaches, you'd probably do better to start with "No. 1" above--that is, what I suppose you were doing in the shower, but lying down. Most importantly, you should do it by whichever method works best for you -- which may turn out to be the way you're already doing it. Nothing wrong with that, and who knows how many other guys may do it the same way?

What exactly happens when you condition yourself? Has this been studied?

I noticed today that while I got rock hard masturbating in bed, when I was standing under the shower it took some time to get hard at all. Also sometimes I even struggle to get hard with the left hand. I sometimes find that very disturbing, it is as if my right hand has become a sex organ. :-)
Although I do have sex with women I get harder when I am on my own.
Can this come from masturbate a lot and for long times and having too little actual
intercourse? I know it sounds very plausible that I conditioned myself that way,
but is it a fact ? - Or am I just more anxious around the women.
I always hear masturbation has not bad side effects.

P.S. snackle I have also urinated before in the shower when I orgasmed, I kind of liked the feeling - it was different. I think it is the way the water jets stimulate the penis. I would not worry too much about it.

Re: masturbation

Yes Roger it is a fact. Pick up practically any book dealing with sexuality and masturbation and it will basically tell you the same thing. It is possible to condition and train yourself to only enjoy certian things certian ways. You may have conditioned yourself slightly, but not to the extremes that some guys do.

Re: masturbation

It's interesting to see how easy it is to condition your body to respond to certain stimuli. I never really got much from having my breasts/nipples played with, until I read somewhere that you can make them more sensitive by touching them whenever your **** is being touched. That you have to make that connection. Well, I did, and it worked like a charm. What a treat!!

Let me add that the best thing you can do is relax about your body. Sometimes it's up, sometimes it's down. I can start to masturbate and occassionally it will just not respond. My hand gets worn out and I've even used up the hand-over-hand method.

I get a chuckle from it, and I just give up and go do something else. No big deal tho. It's readily available since I always have the necessary tools with me, and it only takes a few minutes. And how rewarding!

Re: masturbation

So one can condition onself and that can lead to ED. Why did none of the urologist even mention that when I had problems? I am sure it was part of the problem and it is not the same as anxiety. I mean I am not anxious round my left hand.

So how do I stop my conditioning. Should I masturbate less ? (I will struggle to fall asleep ) Should I tie my right hand behind my back?
O.k. ideally I need a sexual partner again- it has been almost 2 months. But when you have that really desperate look on you the women just run.
Do sexual therapist help you with this or are there other simpler procedures?

Re: masturbation

My guess as to why the urpologists didn't mention conditioning while you being checked out is a cynical one. They're doctors, they can only keep you coming back for more treatments if there is something wrong with you.

As for reconditioning yourself the two thingsyou mentioned aren't bad ideas really. Now I wouldn't literally tie my right hand behind my back I would try masturbating with my left hand more. If you can absolutely only orgasm with your right hand then try masturbating different ways with the right hand to begin with. If you always use lube when you masturbate stop. If you don't use lube start. Try masturbating in different positions, standing, or on your knees. Basically all you have to do is to NOT do it the way you always have.

I hope this helps.

Re: masturbation

...and give it a few tugs whenever you get the opportunity outside of your bedroom so your bedroom isn't a requirement.

Don't be concerned with whether or not you are going to *** when you are varying your m.o. YOu know you won't at first, just accept it and keep muddling through. Then one day it will happen and then you can make up for lost time.

Oh, one more thing...no need to stop doing it in the bedroom, you know. He just needs a little exposure.
