I just got the results from my sperm anlysis back and the count was 0, and my testosterone level was also low at 18.7pmol/L . The doctor said the test was incomplete since a cbc was not done, he sent me to another doctor which I have to wait till Jan to go see, he said nothing and I don't know what this test means? Can someone please help me I desperatly need some help!
I desperatly need some help, please since I am only 25 years old and don't want to think I can never have kids, I know thier might be a posibility of having surgery and a biopse test to see what is wrong.
But are thier any cases like this or does any1 know where I can go for answers since the doctor left me in the dark!
Low testosterone combined with zero sperm count can mean several things. Firstly, is he sending you to an endocrinologist or a urologist? Do you have other symptoms like fatigue, muscle loss, muscle pains, dry skin, weight gain, memory problems, irritable, depression, or any other things? Did you have blood tests for LH, FSH, TSH, cortisol and prolactin? If not, go a back to your doctor and get them. There is no use waiting for 2 months just to have another doctor order them and wait more time. If your doctor refuses, go to another doctor and demand them. Those hormone tests will narrow down your problem very quickly. For instance, if your FSH is high and your testostereone low, then u have primary testical failure. If you have low LH, low FSH and high prolactin then you have a more serious problem with your pituitary gland. Let us know what the test results are.
You need to find a new doctor. Waiting until January is not an option. They could have botched the entire test, so you need to get re-tested before drawing any conclusions. Make sure you are seeing a urologist and not a general practicioner. A good urologist can read a semen analysis results sheet and tell you in plain English what is wrong and what are the possible causes. If your doctor is keeping you in the dark, and telling you to come back in January, you need to drop him like a bad habit. This is your health at stake here - not some doctor's schedule. Take charge of the situation and demand answers. And don't wait.
I too had a 0 count and low testosterone level. My doc put me on injections of testosterone and I had surgery. I now have two kids. See a Urologist for advise.
I had a test which my FSH was high and my testostorone was low, The doc said that my brain is sending signals that not enogh semen is being made so it is trying to produce more!
All and all they are still sending me for more test and yet again leaving me in the dark, I have no clue what is going on, and I can't put my life on hold which i have to for these test since I have to work away from home!
High FSH and low testosterone is almost always primary testicular failure. That means that your testicles are not responding to pituitary hormones (your brain is sending signals that your testosterone and inhibin hormones are too low). You need to see an endocrinologist to assess the situation further. But the chances of fixing this problem are relatively low. You may have to start taking supplementary testosterone.
