He put me on some anti-biotics for 2 weeks. Re: right testicle

Well testicular cancer is mostly to happen to young guys between 15-34 years of age. I had the same problem you did when I was your age, but it has since went away. I think you need some support as the hanging will cause thee pain, try wearing some briefs that has have support, I prefer boxerbriefs, boxer are just too unsupportive.

Re: right testicle

Orngeman,

I know that this must be a scary experience for you. I'm a med student and I saw a 17 year old with the same problem last night.

Testicular cancer is pretty rare; the risk for a a guy under 20 is about 9 in a million. The good news is that it's usually treated; 95% of guys go into complete remission (they're pretty much cured.)

But it doesn't sound like you have cancer, Orngeman. Testicular cancer usually involves a painless lump on one side. If a doctor or nurse practitioner suspects cancer, he or she can order an ultrasound test for a better look (it doesn't hurt.)

Epididymitis is usually a sexually-transmitted disease. Guys with epididymitis usually have a swollen, painful testicle on one or both sides. It usually goes away with antibiotics.

There are some other things that can cause pain in the testes:

Varicoceles and hydroceles are accumulations of fluid. These are common problems and can usually be treated with a quick procedure.

Hernias happen when a piece of some other tissue, like from the intestines, pokes through to the where the testes are. Hernias usually happen on one side and are like a bulge. (Coughing and straining tend to make hernias pop out a bit more, which is why you might be asked to cough.)

Some guys also feel pain in the scrotum that comes from another source... like the kidneys, the legs, or the stomach.

Orngeman, I think you're going to be fine if the pain has started to go away. Are you comfortable talking with your doctor? If not, maybe you can find a clinician who can answer your questions.

Definitely go back to the doctor if...
1. You have a fever (more than 101 degrees)
2. If you feel a hard lump in one of your testicles
3. If you feel something that feels like a "bag of worms"
4. If you have any kind of discharge
5. If you have trouble going to the bathroom

Take care,

Mats.

Re: right testicle

I had a similar experience and kept it to myself for years. I know that it is embarassing to bring up. Finally it got to the point where it was hurting constantly, where i couldn't wear briefs. I went to a urologist and the next day i was having surgery getting my right testical removed. I had tumor that took up 1/3 of it. The good news was it was benign tumor. But if i was you i wouldn't wait to get that taken looked at. ASAP

This is false!! My husband was walking bow legged due to the pain before he was diagnosed with testicular cancer. Maybe, that's true for some, but the pain was definately what got him to go to the doc.
