Problem with penis (LONG...no pun intended)

As the topic thread would imply that im somewhat having a problem getitng an errection. However this is not the case.

Now this is my 1dst time posting on Healthboards so please bear with me if this isnt the "correct" forum in which to post this dilemna of mine.

Ok the problem started about 3-4 months ago at best. I noticed one day that I had a pimple on my penis. This is awkward because I didnt know that this could ever happen. So as you might imagine I was quite shocked and terrified.....I mean this is my "manhood" we are talking about here.

Anyway I left it alone for say about 4 days till I decided to take action. So using a sharp knife (yes i know, the mere thought of a knife near a penis would give any man shivers) I poked a tiny tiny hole in the "pimple" and it popped oozing wih the white pus pimples are known for. So I thought "Alright, case closed...time to gain my confidence back". WRONG!!!

Over th span of 2-4 months its been progressively been gettn' worse. To the point of 4 days ago i had to go at it again but this time with a razor.

The bump was not filled with pus but instead with blood somewhat liquidy than normal blood. Well problem is this bump is still there and now think know what may be under the skin.

A strand of hair. See when hair doesnt break through the surface of skin it somewhat curves downward and keeps growing under the skin.

My problem is: How would I go about getitng rid of this "thing" under the surface of my penis' skin? Should I go to the doctor and have them do actual surgery for what seems like a trivial problem but if it were you , it would keep you bothered all day along, all week long too.

On top of that the area where the bump was is now dry but i suspect it will go away the same way a scab goes away.

Any informative reposnses would be greatly appreciated.
I searched this place out because the "anonymous factor" involved.

Thank you for listening.

Re: Problem with penis (LONG...no pun intended)

I've read other posts in here about pimples very similar to what you've described. If you have the time go ahead and look for them. Try Male anatomy and mens health beside the other two Sexual health forums. It might help you some.

I've never had anything like this, but I would advise going to your doc. There is no telling what it is from what you said, but it is best to have him look at it and give you expert advise.

I wouldn't try to do anymore surgery on it yourself either. This will do more harm than good.

Good luck and Welcome to the boards! Hope you hang around and at the least tells us what happens. We enjoy learning from our fellow posters!

Oh and by the way, this question in this forum is just fine.

Re: Problem with penis (LONG...no pun intended)

***UPDATE***

Success. I am so happy right now. Well heres the scoop.

After trying to get this problem off my mind with some mindless games, I just coudlnt resist going to check up on it. Seeing how a crust like surface was forming, i.e. scab, i decided to remove it as it didint look too appealing. Well after taking off the scab to once again have a nice smooth surface, to my astonishment I see a dark thin line JUST beneath the surface. I knew what it was as I had guessed for oh so long. A folicle of hair. I had to do something, i just had to. I mean I couldnt le this opportunity pass me up. So instead of getting out a sharp tool like previous I just got a pair of tweezers.

I proceeded to ping the 2 ends trying to force the hair folicle to bend and eventually push itself out of the hole i had created. There was minor bleeding but a risk well worth it. I knew the folicle was growing towards the head part of my shaft as I could tell by feeling the skin and see that a "tunnel" had been forced by the folicle.

Well anyway, I proceeded to pinch the ends or actually more of a squeeze and wiggle method. Well within 5 minutes of this a piece breaks through and shows itself. It was now or never. I got the tweezers and went in.

One side came out easy but now it was time for the root part...i asked myself "Should i leave it and let it grow as normal or take it out altogether and risk it happening again?"

I went with the latter. And with success removed the hair folicle altogether. I can say im very releived although a "tunnel" is still left behind, hopefully in time will heal itself.

My questions are now these:

1) How do I prevent the hair from growing again in that certain area without doing harm to myself?

2) I heard Epilstop works wonders but will it do harm to the male genitalia and will it work in that region?

Responses appreciated. Thanks once more for listening.
[This message has been edited by Looking 4 A Better Life (edited 08-01-2001).]

I would suggest not picking at it over and over again as your just infecting it...see a doctor who knows what to do (i know it's embarrassing, but better to be safe than sorry)

Re: Problem with penis (LONG...no pun intended)

Glad to hear the news Looking! I hope this was just an ingrown hair.

I've re-read you posts again and noticed you didn't say where the hair was exactly. Like the head, shaft or closer to the body. It's makes it hard to say if this is normal or not. As for what you can do about ingrown hairs, I'm not certain myself, hopefully someone else here knows more about that. (Come on gang, need an answer here. ) I do know that shaving the area can cause ingrown hairs, but you didn't mention doing this. If you have in the past, it's possible this caused it.

As for your second question, I have no experience with that product. Far as I know neither does my wife. But I would guess you could the read the box it comes in, or even find info here on the Net.

I will agree with Smile though about not picking at it anymore. If you do keep opening the wound, the chances of infection are alot greater. If the sore doesn't get better in the next few days, think about checking with your doctor. Trust me on this, Doctors know it can be embarrassing to talk about stuff like this. But they are professionals about it.

Thanks for the update and Good Luck!!

Re: Problem with penis (LONG...no pun intended)

I'm kinda late here but wanted to post a reply. PLEASE be careful with your surgical procedures...the chance of infection is great and YOU DON'T want one of those on your "manhood." Pimples, ingrown hairs and impacted hair follicles are common on the tool and I've had all three. Usually if left alone they'll take care of themselves...however I have popped them and then things have been all better. I don't quite know if there is anything you can do to prevent them. I'd advise you to see a doc about this particular "bump" if it doesn't go away or seems to be getting infected. DO not use any of those "hair be gone" applications on your manhood, they may be too harsh for the equipment. You may be able to find a thread on this board about shaving, and since you're OK with knifes and razor blades around the equipment you could probably do that just fine! Good luck!
