i shaved myself yesterday, it's very itchy and red now. does anyone have any suggestions for a 21 year old guy who wants to shave his pubic area? my girlfriend loves it, and so do i, i just can't stand the itchyness!
This is what I did the first time shaving:
I put moisturising cream on my testicles, don't be skimpy...on the hair above the penis, I used baby powder...it'll still itch for a few days, but these two things really helped me...hope it helps you.
Jergens® has introduced a hot new product called Naturally Smooth™ Shave Minimizing Moisturizer just in time for summer. This is the latest in skin care innovation from The Andrew Jergens Company - it moisturizes skin as it gradually reduces the appearance of hair. After just eight weeks, Naturally Smooth Shave Minimizing Moisturizer will allow you to shave half as often. It works best when used as a daily moisturizer.
I can't say I have less hair to shave yet but it's only been 5 week or so. In the summer I get red bumps after shaving but using this no razor burn at all and looks real clean and smooth I like it.
I have been shaving for 16+ years and have used many thing to keep the razor burn down I shave every morning.
So give this a try.

I've tried a few methods after shaving regularly for a few years. Here's what I've come across:
1. For the longest time I was pretty carefree (probably not to my best interest) and used the same razor for a long while. While it didn't really cause any problems, I did get bumps. I would just shave with the razor in the shower with water running on me and I shaved with the grain (against the grain gave too many bumps).
2. Recently I've been shaving with soap or hair conditioner. Both work excellent and give a great shave with few or no bumps. With the grain again.
3. Shaving depilitories like Nair and the famous (on this board at least...do a search on Woman's Sexual Health) Magic Powder. Magic Powder worked great, but it was a pain in the *** mixing it with water and all that stuff. Go this route if you have the patience. Nair is great for everywhere except your testicles...OUCH! And you thought sun burn was bad...I really liked how easy it was to remove hair everywhere else.
The best way to go would probably be a razor and some conditioner or soap. Less irritation and you get a nice good shave. If you go against the grain of your pubes (mainly above the penis), you risk getting lots o bumps. Using Nair on everything except your testicles and then using a Mach III (everyone's favorite for shaving pubic hair...I love it) on your testicles would be another great way to get the job done, and you'll be smoothest after that. Hope this helps! Have fun but be careful!
