Premature Ejaculation

Hi, I seem to have a problem with premature ejaculation. I get hard ons very easily and my tip is so sensitive that I can blow my load in less than a minute. I have actually ejaculated while rubbing with a woman with clothes on. I really want to solve this problem, please give me advice, tips any thing. Also i am young so I still may have hormones running strong but there must be a way for me to hold out.

Re: Premature Ejaculation

I had that problem for many years and it suddenly cleared up a few weeks ago when I started taking DHEA, a cheap over the counter hormone you can get at walmart. I don't know if it would help you and I have never seen anyone else make that statement about DHEA. But its worth a try. I am taking 25mg a day first thing in the morning. Took about 2 weeks to start having that effect but it was dramatic for me.

If you try it, let me know if it works!

Re: Premature Ejaculation

This is one of those issues that if someone could solve it easily, he/she would be rich! Seriously, we all have to deal with this matter, especially when we're young, seems like the pistol is always ready to fire before we want it to. Any stimulation can cause an erection and quick ejaculation when we're always ready to go. There are some things you can do to slow the process down. Rather than go through all of that here I'm gonna suggest that you read the section of this web page on premature ejaculation. And I'll add that it involves a little bit of practice and skill to slow it down. Also, age helps and as you get older things will begin to calm down on their own. Until then, keep working at it and always make sure your partner gets pleased through lots of foreplay, that way if you've got a quick trigger you're not the only one getting pleasured!

Re: Premature Ejaculation

Here is a medical research paper that outlines the current thinking on premature ejaculation. Essentially it concludes that viagra is best and can prolong ejaculation from 1 minute to 15 minutes. Not bad huh? I still think you should try DHEA first, its way cheaper.

Int J Impot Res 2001 Feb;13(1):41 Abdel-Hamid IA; Department of Andrology, Mansoura Faculty of Medicine

The objective was to compare the efficacy and safety of the as needed use of clomipramine, sertraline, paroxetine, sildenafil and the pause-squeeze technique in treatment of primary premature ejaculation. A prospective double blind randomized crossover study involving 31 patients was performed. Treatment phases comprised five 4-week consecutive treatment periods, each separated by a two-week washout period. Patients were randomly assigned to receive each of the 4 drugs and use pause-squeeze on an as needed basis. Drugs were administered 3 to 5 hours before anticipated coitus. Anxiety score and ejaculation latency time were measured before treatment, after each treatment, and during washout periods. Sexual satisfaction score was measured after each treatment. The median ejaculation latency time was significantly increased from the pretreatment median of 1 minute to 4 minutes, 3 minutes, 4 minutes, 15 minutes and 3 minutes during treatment with clomipramine, sertraline, paroxetine, sildenafil and pause-squeeze technique, respectively (all P 0.0001). Sildenafil was superior to other modalities in terms of ejaculation latency and satisfaction (P = 0.0001). The three antidepressants were comparable to each other in terms of efficacy (P > 0.05). Paroxetine was superior to the pause-squeeze technique in terms of efficacy (P < 0.05). In conclusion, sildenafil appears to be superior to other modalities and a valid alternative in treatment of premature ejaculation. The 3 antidepressants were equivalent to each other in terms of efficacy and safety. Paroxetine was superior to pause-squeeze technique in terms of efficacy

Re: Premature Ejaculation

Mike, you don't say how old you are, only that you are young. I don't suspect that a doc is going to prescribe Viagra to you to help with premature ejaculation. I hope that what he says is that you should try some "behavioral" things first. Although I'm sure it helps with slowing down the process, I'm concerned that folks who have no medical need for it are gonna start running to the doc asking for prescriptions, thus making the damn drug companies rich!

Re: Premature Ejaculation

Hey Lance I love your posts but I really have to disagree on this one.

It's a myth that premature ejaculation is just a behavior problem. In fact, its the most commonly reported sexual dysfunction problem and it is not easily treated. In the medical journal Current Psychiatry Rep 2000 Jun;2(3):189-95,Rosen reports:

"Sexual dysfunctions are highly prevalent ... premature ejaculation is the most common sexual complaint of men, with a reporting rate of approximately 6% in most studies. ... In addition to their widespread prevalence, sexual dysfunctions have been found to impact significantly on interpersonal functioning and overall quality of life in both men and women."

In a recent article in the Journal of Sex Marital Ther 1997 Spring;23(1):3-23, Metz summarizes the state of affairs:

"The traditional assumption among sex therapists that PE is almost universally caused by psychological features, and easily treated with sex therapy behavioral techniques, is drawn into question. Based on the limited available results from systematic investigations, behavioral treatments for PE remain beneficial to only a minority of men three years after treatment ends, suggesting that this male dysfunction is difficult to treat effectively. "

This problem is very disturbing for a guy and it doesn't help to say its all in his head. In fact, most research now shows that it is organic in nature but no one is sure exactly what is wrong. Continued PE can eventually cause a guy to avoid sex in a kind of denial of his problem. He can't fix it, so he avoids it. Its very natural, but destructive to a relationship.

A lot of people think that they should solve their problems themselves and not need "drugs" to help. But sometimes this simply isn't correct. If you are suffering from depression we now know that you are suffering from a chemical imbalance in the brain and its not something that you can easily "snap out of". Many people suffer in silence because they want to fix it the "natural" way. Well, premature ejaculation is the same thing, it is a chemical problem that won't just go away in most men and it will probably last a life time for most of them. Of course many of them will simply stop making love, that makes the problem go away too.

There is no shame or physical harm in needing a drug to fix an organic problem. If your body doesn't work right, then it doesn't work right. It makes no sense to suffer a lifetime because of the "perfect man" ideal.

So, if Mike's doctor won't prescribe viagra or any of the other "drugs" then I would suggest he find a doctor who understands the progressive and damaging nature of this problem and who is more up to date.

Re: Premature Ejaculation

Thanks for that validation Orion and I'm real OK with us disagreeing on stuff, that's how we learn and why we're here. I certainly agree with all you said in your response. Mike hasn't given us his age, but he said he's young so I'm taking a hunch that he's probably too young to really be having significant erectile dysfunction. Of course, I know we're all different and it can happen differently for each of us. Guess we'll have to wait and see!

Re: Premature Ejaculation

Mike:

Question: Do you suffer PE when you masturbate, or only in penetration situations? If you can control your masturbation "speed", you should be able to control your intercourse ejacs. Having suffered from PE myself, I found that the most important factor in jack control is sufficient arousal. Paradoxical, but the more generally aroused I get, the more control I have. When I am not relaxed, or feel pressured or rushed, things are worse.
Try massage -- it is a wonderful way to become total-body aroused rather than penis-centered aroused. Good luck.

Marco
