Prostate question - Sexual Health - Men Message Board

I was actually looking for a more accurate answer than most of you will probably know. If anyone knows of a message board where actual doctors check up on and answer questions with no cost that would be a lot of help, unless someone can answer my question for sure.

I'm looking at taking certain supplements for my body but there is a side effect listed that it may cause the prostate to decrease in size of up to 15%.

So what I am wondering is, what does prostate size mean? What will prostate size effect? and anything else that could do with prostate size. What does having a smaller prostate do to me?

hawk, I've been taking saw palmetto for 3 years now. I'm not sure what your asking... you only want to take it if you have an enlarged prostate. about 80% of all menget enlarged prostate after 50 years old, if it happens earlier you should see a doctor. I started taking it because I used to have to pee about 10 to 12 times a night, which really sucks. One thing you have to know up front, it's not a (sometimes) thing, you have to take it (every day)it just doesn't work other wise. also it takes about 2 weeks of taking it every day before it starts to work... and yes, it does have a " viagra effect" after a while. good luck

Well it's not that I need to take it for any reason. It is included in a supplement that I am looking into and I was researching the ingredients. That was one of them and I was wondering what a decrease in prostate size would do to me.

Decreased prostate size can result in reduced ejaculation force, reduce semen quantity and depending on what you are taking it might also mask PSA test results hiding prostate cancer.

if you think you have prostate problems see your doctor, you may not have any troubles have a p.a.s. test done. i had a p.s.a. test it showed up as a maybe, after that i had operation .
