This is one of the better-known side effects of the SSRIs, including fluoxetine (Prozac, Zactin), paroxetine (Aropax, Paxil), citalopram (Cipramil, Celexa), fluvoxamine (Luvox, Faverin) and sertraline (Zoloft, Lustral). In general, they cause delayed ejaculation (and delayed orgasm in women equally), which may be *so* delayed as not to occur at all. This is undoubtedly dependent on dose. And in men it is frequently a desired effect, which can be used to treat premature ejaculation.
Some are claimed to cause it less, but psychiatrists are often of the opinion that this there is really no difference, however, it *is* observed that one person may have a given problem with one drug and not another. So another drug from the group may be worth trying (but of course, no point trying another brand of the same drug).
Mind you, the antidepressant effect for some people outweighs this - or indeed any other - side effect, and perhaps Silverwillow is/ was in that category! |
