I have an arrythmia called atrial fib. Been having a few problems off and on with maintaining. I asked the doctor if I could use it having AF. He gave me some samples, but my wife is afraid for me to use it. Soooooo I haven't done so. Is there anyone else that has had this problem?-gle

Viagra has a contraindication/caution if you have coronary artery disease, not cardiac arrythmia. I think you should be ok, start with the smaller doses, many people split their Viagra. Next time work your dose up if you don't get the desired affect. Follow your Dr.'s advice and you should be fine.

I took a stress test last summer and the doctor said he didn't think I had any blockage. Also the doctor gave me 50mg tabs. He told me to take one and if it didn't work, take one the next time. It that didn't work take two. But one other time this same conversation came up and he was going to give me .25mg, but I declinded. Also it states if your erection lasts longer than four hours go to the ER. Now that would be pretty embarassing. What are the chances of that happening? I tried to call the 800 number, but it was a taped message.

I have had CAD (coronary artery disease) for over three years, including several antioplasties and stent placements. I talked to my Dr last year about problems maintaining erections at which time he gave me samples and a prescription to Viagra. None of the meds I am now taking are nitrates. I have had very minimal side effects from taking it, alittle facial flush and that is about it.

When Dr gave me Viagra he mentioned all of the possible side effects, including prolonged erections. However he stated that he had not had one patient who had ever had this problem.

And as far as going to ER if this problem should occur, believe me, they have seen everything and should not give you cause for embarresment.

Best advice I can give is to talk to you Dr about your concerns, and I'm sure all will work out fine.

Should mention, in my case Viagra is great!

If low cardiac output because of your atrial fib is causing you to have problems with your erections, correcting your atrial fib might be a more effective treatment than taking Viagra.

Viagra, however, taken in prescribed doses, should not screw with an arrhythmia or make it worse. (not that it's easy to make AF any WORSE.) Since your doctor prescribed it to you, and your doctor knows your history, trust your doctor. Don't worry about it.
