i ahve only been to the gym a few times and thinking i need to go more
i was wondering about the locker room are you supposed to wear a towel around you when you walk through there how about the sauna

You could do whatever you like. Some guys parade around everywhere completely naked. I prefer to wear a towel around me when walking to and fro. Sauna - I prefer to keep a towel around.

Go with the local custom--some places are more or less conservative than others. At mine, bareass is the norm walking from the showers and in the sauna and steam. You should bring a towel in to sit on though-- but if you wore the towel in, you wouldn't be considered weird. There's pretty much no rule and most guys won't care what you do.

in my gym the custom is you do what you like. some towels, some not. unless you are a bit homophobic, most guys don't care about other guy's packages.

Good Advice to follow the local practices. At the gym I used to go to, most guys walked around naked. A few kept a towel or underwear when going to the shower.

At the current gym, most of us keep something on when walking around. In the sauna, it is a towel thrown across the lap or nothing. Personal preference, I guess. I like to sit on a towel in the sauna. The seats are just too hot to sit on for a long time.

I don't like to see a guy shaving or brushing his teeth naked. I keep my underwear on at the sink.

Wear how much or little as you are comfortable with. No one cares.
