alright i am starting to get worried. first, i need to know if it is normal to have tiny bumps on the penis where hair is supposed to grow (but sometimes doesnt, higher up for example). second, one night i *for some stupid reason* picked at one of the bumps, and it became bigger and red. now i have what feels like a raised bump on my penis (the underside). the reason i am worried is it feels like a pebble now, and also, its been there for a little over a month. what should i do??
oh i forgot something important: i am a virgin, never had a sexual experience, etc
also, i just read about <forgot the name >; the bumps are glands that release a type of lubricant? that must be what i have.. im not too worried because apparently 40 percent of men have them. but what i am worried about is the fact that i irritated one of the bumps and it just wont go away!
Those bumps at the base of the penis are hair follicles, however not all of them will produce hair. Do NOT pick at them or try to remove them! They are a normal part of your penis, and they are permanent, so get used to them! Just about every adult male has these bumps there - I'm not sure where you got 40% from.
These bumps are common causes for concern with teens and guys finishing up puberty, because these bumps didn't exist before puberty, and when they suddenly appear, we automatically make the connection that bumps on the penis = not good. But I assure you, they are perfectly normal, and every other guy has them too.
