Question Bacterial Vaginosis?

Has anyone heard of a man obtaining bacterial vaginosis from a female? Is this possible?

If you go to the women's health forum at the bottom they have a lot of info. on this topic. Whether a man can acquire it or not is questionable. Some docs say no some say yes.

i'm a female. the bacteria that cause BV are natural ones found in the woman and man. the problem is that one bacteria overpowers the other natural ones. sometimes it can be carried by the man as well. I assume that your girlfriend has it and is requesting that you get treated as well. My Boyfriend was treated at the same time as I, and things finally got better, and fast.

yes you can get it and the same with yeast infections. if you don't treat them as well as the girl then you can give it right back to her.

Hmmm, thanks for the feedback. I really don't understand this though. I called my Dr. and told him my girlfriend's diagnosis and he said that I didn't need to be treated. The same thing with my local state dept. clinic. They said that they go by what the CDC says.

I'm really starting to worry if maybe my girlfriend was misdiagnosed. I still feel like I have a symptom that isn't going away. Meanwhile, she has been treated and her symptoms are gone. I hear that the medicine used to treat BV is the same one to treat Trichomonis. What if her gynocologist confused the two when doing her culture? Is this possible? I really don't understand why I am having a symptom. Is it in my head?
