Young and having erection problems

Hello,

So I'm twenty years old college kid. I weight train a couple times a week and also run a couple of miles a week. I have a girlfriend that I've been with for about 4 years.

My problem is that I am having trouble keeping erections when it comes to sex. I can get one fine during foreplay and just by even checking out my girlfriend. I sometimes can actually have sex without a problem(mostly if theres been a 5 day time gap or something since the last time I ejaculated).

When we first started becoming sexually active I had this problem a little bit. She was my first, and the first couple of times we tried to do it I was so nervous I couldnt get an erection.. But then after that I had no trouble besides a few incidents that never lasted more than a week. But I'm getting worried now. I've been having terrible trouble the last 3 weeks. I know its all in my head as I can get an erection fine before sex and even keep one through oral. But for some odd reason when I start to have sex, either the first minutes or so I will start to go a little soft so then I think about it and its doomed from there.(This was how the incidents were in the past)

But now, I can be having sex for a good 5-10 minutes and be really into it and she will too, and then all of a sudden it starts to happen. Now I know most of this is in my head.. it's like a vicious cycle. I mean I'm almost always horny and wanting to have sex daily but I'm starting to shy away from it because I'm afraid its going to happen again. I fight these thoughts but in the process of fighting these thoughts-- oh and behold it happens again.

I've tried taking L-Arginine, tribulus, and a multivitamin daily. I just ordered some horny goat weed that also contains maca root and a couple of other things. I feel like I need something to just boost my confidence again. I was even thinking of trying to order something like viagra online.

One thing that I havent tried yet is, I smoke weed once daily through a vaporizer. I don't see how it would have an effect but Ive seen people say it could cause it before. Anyone have any scientific reason to why it would?

Has anyone experienced something similar to this? And have some advice on how you dealt with these silly thoughts?

Re: Young and having erection problems

I'm not familiar with the science of why and how smoking lowers androgens, but it does. It might make you more mellow, but avoiding it more often should help with your problem and help you stay focused during sex.

There are a lot of oily plants that have estrogenic effects that you probably want to avoid: soy, flax, canola, etc. Hemp might just be like other oily plants in having an estrogenic effect. You should probably learn where BPA is to avoid it too. It only takes the tiniest amounts to disturb hormones.

I've heard that tribulus is often worthless depending on the source. I'd only get something with (real) good reviews. What have you tried for bodybuilding? I've heard some whey protein has estrogenic effects. I've heard good things about taurine for androgens. (Taurine deficiency might be pretty common?)

Another thing that would help keep your focus during sex is increasing penile sensitivity. Though I could probably stand to keep that spiel to myself unless you actually wondered.

Wow, I just read some men saying tribulus caused gynecomastia in combination with other typical bodybuilding supplements, so that might be good reason to avoid it.

Re: Young and having erection problems

Not sure mate, but could it have a link with weight-training?

How about checking out a specialist?

And check out aphrodisiacs, they do help: red wine, dark chocolate, anything containing vitamin E (like cabbage) etc.

Cut out alcohol, forget coffee.

All best!
