it's an examen in which the medician takes a sample of cell of the cervix of your uterus, to check for the posibility of cancer. Is a simple examen, it can produce a little bit of discomfort but is a very short one.

No, you arent ignorant, since you are posting on the teen board I'm guessing you are fairly young.....

The doctor will use a speculum to open up your vaginal opening and he/ she will take a small spatula like instrument with a lil soft brush on the end of it and scrape cells from your cervix to test for cancer ( as the previous poster said ) It's very quick and painless. And important to start whjen you are around 16 years of age or when you become sexually active.
