hymen

I am very curious about the hymen. I would like to know where exactly its located, what its purposes is, what happens after it pops, (is it just loose skin, does it come back) and i know it can be popped from sports or physical activity or sex, but can fingering pop it too?? And i read that you can see it inside the vagina after the age of 15, so if i'm older than that should it be visible?
thanks for any answers! I need them kinda quick

Re: hymen

the hymen is located at the front of the entrance to the vagina. Anything such as tampons, sports, foreign objects, sex, ect. can pop the hymen. It can not grow back. There is no purpose of it, at least not to my knowledge. When it is popped, you will slightly bleed but nothing like your period. It does not bleed long either. It is a thin peice of skin. hope that helps and sry if my info isnt exactly accurate. I would look it up on yahoo... FEMALE ANATOMY.

Re: hymen

Thanks, that did help. So fingering can pop it as well..and is it a VERY little bit of blood..like barely noticable?

Re: hymen

Sweet, really the location of the hymen is different for all women as all women are different. Passion is right about how it can be popped. When I first had sex, it really hurt when my hymen tore. There was some bleeding. Again, the bleeding is different for all women (nothing serious or anything) and also, the thickness of the skin is different. Once it is torn or "popped" it never comes back. The only real thing that I know that it is for is showing that you are a virgin. If you are a virgin and it hasn't been torn by any means -sports, tampons, ect.- yes, it should be visible until you lose your virginity. Hope that helps!

Re: hymen

thanks again. Should I know if mine has been torn? And I've always just figured it was like a ball shape (if that makes any sence) well i guess i mean like a cherry (because of the phrase 'pop the cherry') is it like that or not?

Re: hymen

I think mine got popped by fingering. Once afterwards I went to the bathroom and there was a little blood on the tp. When we first had sex (later) it hurt like h**l, but I didn't bleed. So, I assumed the blood was from breaking it.

I don't know if it is true, but I have heard it can grow back after 7 years of no penetration.

No its just a stretchy piece of tissue across the opening to a girls vagina.. some girls don't even have one and they don't all bleed. There is no popping sound either, its a stupid phrase.

I heard it on the radio along, long time ago. Guess there are no such people as "born again virgins"

Re: hymen

If its just "a stretchy piece of tissue across the opening to a girls vagina" then it doesn't get "popped" at all right, just torn? And in between the two layers of skin there is blood? Is that correct at all JLB284

Re: hymen

The hymen is a membrane that has blood vessels and stuff, so it will bleed if torn. Not all girls will tear, even after the first time they have sex. Sometimes it will just stretch. If you look up "hymen" on yahoo (avoid the porn sites that might come up with the legit ones), there should be some stuff on anatomy. They can look different in different girls.

It's not actually round, but if you look at it in the mirror (or from a guy's perspective), it does kinda look roundish and red. I guess that's where the expression came from?

The hymen won't go back to covering the vaginal opening once it's cut/torn/"popped". The skin of the labia and hymen don't have a whole lot of elasticity, so they don't just bounce back if you're stretching them a lot or tearing them.

I know you've gotten a good understanding now SweetasSugar07, but I just had to point out that this particular item is not true. It's as true as saying the location of the liver is different for all people, or the nose, as all people are different. No, our body parts don't get to be placed randomly around our body. There is one location for a hymen, and that is at the entrance to the vagina. Now there can be differences in it's thickness, elasticity, color and stuff like that, but sorry, not it's location.

I am not saying that the hymen is located anywhere else but in the vagina. I am just saying that it can be located further up in the vagina or lower down. Not all hymen are in the same exact place. IF everybodys everything was in the same exact place then we would all look the same wouldn't we.....and how BORING would that be. So technically, the liver and nose is in the same area, but not all are in the same exact place.....see what I mean. With all of these questions concerning the female sex organs and such, I always ask my brother because he is an ob/gyn. Don't turn something that I said into something else. And if you didn't know then here is what I meant. All you had to do is ask and not be rude.

No, its not located anywhere but across the entrance to the vagina, it is not located somewhere inside. Its not even considered part of the vagina (internal) it is considered part of the vulva (external).
