you can take a early detection test like first response, I believe up to 5 days before your missed period. But in my situation, I took one the week I missed my period and it came out negative, I waited til the following week, took another and it was positive. So my honest opinion is, you can try to take the test up to 5 days before your missed period, or to be more certain and save some money wait til you miss your period, then test. Always test with the first mornings urine, as it has a higher hcg level in it, then any other time of the day. If not, you can always request a urine test or a blood test from your doc also. good luck
