Exclamation my pd just ended but less than a week later now i am bleeding again

I am 18 years olf and my period ended on Sunday, the 9th, and it began the sunday before that on the 2nd. It has never been irregular and lasts about 7 days every month. On the 13th, just 4 days after it had ended I began getting a kind of discharge, the kind that I get before my period. There was a little more discharge yesterday (the 14th) and now it's like a light period (bloody) only a bit more redder and less thicker. I am sexually active but never bled before because of sex. Any explanations?

*shrug* since you're posting on the teens board I'm gonna take a wild stab in the dark here and say you're not fresh out of puberty yet -- just because it was never irregular before, doesn't mean it can't be irregular suddenly now -- unless, of course, you're taking some kind of hormonal birth control (like the Pill.)

If it doesn't happen again and kind of settles itself in, or if it isn't debilitating, that kind of thing, and you're not on birth control, don't worry.

If it starts getting REALLY warped, and if you start having debilitating problems with your period (like if you keep going one week on one week off for a long time,) therein we find a problem.

Either way, if you are on the Pill or any other kind of hormonal birth control and you have not severely messed up the taking of said Pill, there IS a problem, and your BCpill is probably not protecting you adequately.

It is common for young women, even young women with "clockwork" periods to every now and then have both ovaries fire out of synch. Wrin's advice is good. See what happens. If it keeps going or if it happens over and over again, then see your doctor. Also, if you notice a change to something abnormal (change in color, clots, etc.) or you feel like something is wrong (pain, weight gain, feeling of general illness) then you also should see your doctor.

Keep us posted!

Question

your situation could be a couple of things. since you are sexually active are you using condoms and are you on some kind of birth control? if you are i wouldn't worry as much unless you're not using protection. if you are though you could just be experiencing an irregular period due to the fact that it's normal for women to have them every now and then. if you're not practicing safe sex there could be a couple of things going on: you could have an STD or infection which is now showing symptoms or you could be pregnant because strange periods are sometimes possible when one is pregnant. but i'm not an expert so go to the doctor to find out.

Exclamation

yea i used a condom but still, whats the chance of pregnancy? and its been a couple of days now and its becoming more like a period. I'm thinking about waiting a week to see what happens and if the bleeding doesn't stop by then i'm going to see a doctor. thanks for all the advice. anything else?
