If by the shot you are meaning Depo Provera then your gf needs to stay away from that. It has all kinds of side effects that are not pretty in the least. It ranges from infertility,to constant bleeding,bone density loss,weight gain,depression,headaches and the list goes on. Granted some women dont have the side effects but they are there and need to be seriously considered before one goes through with getting Depo Provera.
The pill doe shave side effects but is much easier to deal with. Most side effects with the pill will go away after the body adjusts to it(which takes about three months). If they dont go away one can simply switch pills until one is found that works well with that person.
Make sure that no mattrer what choice your gf makes that you use condoms also. The reason being is no birth control is 100% when it comes to preventing pregnancy. So use condoms along with whatever form she goes on. SHe can do a search online like at Planned Parenthood and look over the various forms of birth control to see what she likes. Then she can talk with her doctor about what would be good for her.
