I've had sex about a dozen times...maybe more. The problem is that it still really hurts when I have sex. It usually hurts around the opening to my vagina when my boyfriend and I begin having sex. Then after this wears off, it hurts on the actual insides of my vagina, like the walls are hurting from my boyfriend's penis pushing against them. I want to know, how long did it take for all of you to stop having pain when you were having sex, and is the kind of pain I'm experiencing normal? We have a lot of foreplay and all that before sex, and on top of that we use lube, so me being too dry isn't the problem. The other day I went to the doctor's for a pap smear, and it hurt when she used the speculum on me as well - it wasn't just uncomfortable like it's sposed to be. So, what's the deal?? This is really ruining my sex life!

Sex never hurt me, not even the first time. Why didn't you mention this to your doctor when you were there? I could see some soreness around the opening if you're new to sex, but the inside walls shouldn't hurt.

I'd ask your gyno about checking for endometriosis if I were you. It could be that or an infection. I know that infections usually have some pretty heinous symptoms, but sometimes they don't. At any rate, both of them are worth checking out.
