Why am I so paranoid?? - Sexual Health - Teens Message Board

A few months ago I started having sex for the first time. I have only done so 5 times, but always afterwards I feel so paranoid about pregnancy! We have been very carefull. I am on the pill and he wears a condom. I even made him pull out cause it scares me. We will probably be having sex again soon and I am still paranoid! I would also like him not have to pull out. I know people will probably say that i'm not ready to have sex then, but I am 20 years old and we really like eachother and I really love to do it, its just afterwards! What are other people thoughts?

I understand where your coming from...but...If your going to be sexually active you should recognize that it is very possible to get pregnant no matter how much protection you use and it's very possibly to contract an STD as well. You should sit down with your partner and talk about how you would handle such a situation. There's nothing more you can do than use as many contraceptives as you feel necessary. And if, for some reason, they should fail you must have the maturity and knowledge to deal with it. If you are not mature enough to deal with an unwanted pregnancy should one occur then mabey you should abstain from sex until you are.

-If youre worried about getting pregnant then you should at least love the guy you are sleeping with, so incase u do get pregnant at least your relationship would be strong.

I think we're allparanoid, some of us just handle it a little better. If your on the pill and using a condom, i'd say your pretty safe, but maybe sitting down and talking with your partmer about what would happen if there was an accident would be a good idea. Eg-Morning after pill, abortions-all that kind of thing.

Your fear may be your subconsious trying to make you feel guilty for having premarital sex. Between the pill and a condom, the risks are very low. I think you know this already. I mean, if you were to also use a foam contraceptive, would you feel better? How about also getting a diaphram? Do you see how rediculous this is getting - using the pill, condom, foam and a diaphram at the same time? Yet, if you think you would still have bad feelings after sex, then your fear is not from getting pregnant, but something else. If the feelings continue, then you may need to consider seeing a sex therapist.
