The fact that you are asking this tells a few things about you. One, you are smart. Many boys your age would jump at the chance and dive right in without thinking about it or the consequences. By taking the time, if you decide to go ahead, you can plan for the condoms, where you will do it, the mood you will set, etc. in order to make it a special time. I mean, a romantic setting that you planned for is much better than a spurious thing in the back seat of a car. Two, it shows that you are not yet mature enough to handle the situation. While you are smart, you are still uncertain. If you were mature (or dumb, perhaps) you would not have to ask.
The pressure on guys, especially, to lose their virginity is strong, but virgins rarely catch STDs and I have yet to find one who became a biological father. (OK, with in vitro fertilization, it is possible, but let's not get technical.)
