A couple days ago I went to put a tampon in and I noticed it was really tight..like I had to force it in. I did get it in and every time after that I got the tampon in fine. But today I started thinking that maybe I had to force that tampon in because I had forgotten to take the other one out first. I've never done this before and I doubt I would have now but I'm still worried. Anyway I stuck my finger as far in as I could and I didn't feel anything that I could mistake for a string or tampon, but there was a couple small pieces of something cotton like on my finger (not very much at all.) Is it possible that the tampon is wedged up in there and I wouldn't feel it with my finger? And is it possible that the cotton-like stuff was just some residue left behind from a tampon? I'm probably just being paranoid but I'd appreciate any advice! thanks

I would doubt the tampon is still up there. Unless it really got pushed deep inside, far enough where the string would be nowhere in sight. Anyway it's rare, and you're probably just worried.
This has happened to me on occasion. Mainly that was due to just being dry and having some problem getting the tampon to go in easily. That's all it was, so maybe that's part ofyour problem?

I had the samething happen to me. The way to make sure that you didnt forget to remove an old one is to squat kind of like a duck and see if you can feel anything,, maybe left inside,,,becareful to not be rough...My DR. told me it cant get lost...So if you cant feel anything left inside dont worrie

I worked in GYN and this happens more often than people think. Cookie too gave great advice. That is the best way for locating a lost tampon. Try squating over a mirror to see if you can see it. If you truly think you may have one left in there you need to talk to a doctor. They can cause severe infection if not removed. However, we've had women come in months later cause their husband noticed a smell. So some people don't get infections.

Were you using a different kind of tampon, maybe? Like maybe you are used to plastic applicators, but this new one was cardboard or no applicator? I've always found that cardboard or non-applicator tampons are more difficult to insert than plastic.

Also, perhaps you weren't flowing heavily enough for it to be a smooth insertion? Being dryer would make it much more difficult.

I bet it wouldn't hurt though, to call your doctor and see if they can't take a quick look for you. And also, since you struggled so much with that one tampon, they can check for tears and irritation, anyway, as long as you're there!
