Angry Diflucan woes!

Ugh, so here i am again with a yeast infection. I have been lucky and i usually get 1 per year (knock on wood) but when i get one i get it bad and have a hard time curing it. The last one came and went for 3 months before it was cured by taking 4 Diflucan within a 1 week period!!

This time i thought that it was just some chafing because it had been so hot here, then it got itchy and burny so i knew what was up. I took one Diflucan on Friday and Saturday i felt much better, then i woke up today and was still feeling ok (but still a little itchies and stuff). Now when i got up Sunday (today) i felt all itchy and sore again so i took a second Diflucan. That was 12 hours ago and my condition is not getting better, it feels like it is getting worse!!

Has anyone else had a similar experience? Like i said, i used diflucan before and it worked, now it seems to have little effect.

Please share!

I was a veteran of thrush for a while and diflucan always worked well. HOwever in Oz it is sold as a one off, one dose ttmt, not sure how its marketed in the US. It seems to me you've been taking an awful lot of it. I would venture to say either you haven't got thrush or you've run into resistance problems by overusing it. Try something else. Go back even to good old Nilstat. Slow but effective. Or if you haven't used Canestan for a while, use that.

And I presume you don't have a partner who could be reinfecting you???? Symptoms or not.

You need to go back to the doc for something different since the Diflucan isn't working. Also be sure he tested you to be certain it is yeast as many infections can have similar symtoms. Be sure you are eating plenty of yogurt with live active cultures or taking acidophillis capsules. You might also want to ask your doc if he approves of you using a tea tree oil douche to see if that helps. Do not do this though without his ok.

Hi,

I too like a frightening number of women am a veteran of the yeast-infection struggles. I tried just about everything out there - including way too much Diflucan. Finally, I realized that in my case, a big part of the problem was that I was using lubricant with animal glycerin in it. The glycerin converts to sugar and feeds the yeasties. I tried a couple of non glycerin lubes but they all had lots of chemicals that I didn't want to be putting into my body and they didn't make my infections go away. Then I found a really, really excellent lube that I've posted about before, I believe in it so much. It is called O'My and it has no animal glycerin (it does have vegetable glycerin from coconuts but apparently this kind doesn't cause the same kind of problem) and it does have hemp seed oil in it which is natually anti-fungal and actually helps manage candida overgrowth. I am here to testify that it has quite literally taken away my yeast infections. And it is just a fabulous lube. I've written about it on this board before because I honestly believe that it is the only thing that we women should allow to be used. Anyway, it's called O'My and it is available online. I got a great deal online at InformedChoiceProducts.com

I hope you get it and that it helps and that you never have to take diflucan again! (I haven't since I started using O'My...kind of a dumb name but really, truly good stuff!)
