Post yeast infection/thrush/HIV

I just posted this message on another board but thought I might be able to get an answer here.
Hey,
Last week I went to doctor with white throat. He told me it was thrush. I had a vaginal Y.I. the week prior. He wanted me tested for HIV. I have been reading alot about Y.I's and thrush. Some people say that eating yeasty foods or drinking alcohol can cause it. I was put on Nystatin and the thrush cleared up within the first day. I have avoided 'yeasty' foods and alcohol all week. Well, last night I drank about 6 alcoholic drinks and this morning had slight thrush again. (I have been on a diet for the past year and have avoided most bread type products and alcohol but have started drinking quite a bit in the past 3 months) I had never had a problem like this before. My question is..Would you believe it is the alcohol causing the thrush and that my body has changed because of the lack of yeast over the past year or do you feel it could be an HIV infection that is preventing my body from fighting the Y.I.? I had the HIV test done but am afraid to get the results.

It sounds like the alcohol is to blame. But dear, you need to find out your test results. I realize it can be a very scarey thing, but its best to know in the end. Wouldnt you want to do everything you could if you did have it, rather then waiting because it may be too scarey? Try going a week or two without drinking and see how it affects the thrush, but while doing that go and get your results. Good luck!

Yeast aka candidia aka thrush is cause by an overgrowth of the candidia bacteria. Since the thrush is reoccuring I am wondering if you used the Nystatin for the full amount of time the doc prescribed it for. You to use it for the full amount of time even though the infection may appear to be gone before you finish the medicine. Also if your partner had a yeast infection and you kissed him/her you could get the yeast back that way. The same thing is true if your partner has a yeast infection elsewhere and you licked, kissed or sucked that body part. The alcohol may be a contributing factor to the thrush but I doubt that is what caused the yeast to overgrow. I would almost like to bet the medication didn't quite take care of all of the infection or you didn't finish all the prescribed medication and the yeast just came back in full force. You should also be eating plenty of yogurt with live active cultures or taking acidophillis capsules to help prevent yeast infections. If you continue to get frequent yeast infections your doctor may want to test for diabetes since diabetics are more prone to yeast infections.

you have an overgrowth of yeast in your gut. your medication tamed a few "symptoms", but it was/is still inside of you! Let me tell you what yeasts favorite foods are to eat while in yuor gut:
alcohol, and any other fermented things, like vinegar.
sugar. (sugar in fruit, and bread, and sweets) dairy. and more.
go into a search engine online and lookup "yeast overgrowth in gut." or "the yeast connection". youll be amazed.
I had a big vaginal yeast infection when i was pregnant.then i got a redhot rash under my boobs. My doctor that just birthed my baby just threw me a topical prescription for nystatin and walked off.my newborn would cry when she ate. i didnt know why. now i know. and why didnt he think about the possibility?? My baby was born with thrush in her mouth, i played total hell trying to get rid of it. i got rid of the symptoms in her mouth, then thought i was free and clear. but her belly is distended and large, and no doctor will give me an ear about it. they just shrug. her butt is always red with a rash. now shes got ear infections that wont go away and exzema rashes on her face.my sister with exzema her whole life said heres flairs up when she eats sugar. Ive done enough online research now that i see this whole thing is all tyed together. But no average doctor would admit to it. I dont think its covered in thier training!
