They were around as an alternative to latex, also supposedly letting heat and more feeling pass through because they were thinner. But since the advent of newer thinner condoms, and also latex alternatives (like poly-pro) they seem (in my opinion) out dated. And also they didn't do the prime function of what (many people consider) condoms should do: prevent STDS. The skin of the condom is porous and lets stds travel through.
So that's my take on 'em.
