| Re: human papilloma virus?
Human Papilloma Virus, HPV, is quite common, I believe about 100 strains exist and most of these are harmless. I don't want to alarm you but HPV can sometimes be an indicator that genital warts are present. Genital warts are a sexually transmitted infection. I cannot tell from your post if your doctor informed you of this? Not all diagnoses of HPV mean that genital warts are present.
I had experience with HPV about 10 years ago and it was linked to genital warts which freaked me out until I learned how common the condition was and that there are treatments available.
I received a treatment in which they froze the warts (they were inside my vagina, close to my cervix) and I have not had symptoms or an abnormal pap smear in the last 10 years. I do hope this helps.
