I think it is a preference thing with women. And just like pensises (sp?) womens vaginas are not all one size.
Only the bottom 1/3 of the vagina has the vast majority of the nerves, so having an exceptionally "long" penis is not particularly important, plus if a man is very long when he thrusts he can cause pain or even bleeding to a womans cervix which is not a pleasant thought. If a man falls into the "extra long" category he should be very careful about vigorous relations or he can harm his partner. This can actually decrease his pleasure since he cannot just relax and let go, but be conscious of his depth and may not be able to take full strokes.
Girth (thickness) has the same advantages and drawbacks. While women are meant to stretch for the birth of babies, if a man is exceptionally thick he needs to be aware that he has to be careful with his partner or he can cause tearing.
I think it is important for men to understand that women are not "one size fits all" and that it is important for men, regardless of size to be aware of their partners abilities and limitations.
Guys should also understand that sexual gratification for women has just as much, if not more, to do with the emotional component of sex than the physical. A caring, considerate, and attentive partner is much more important than how large his penis is.
