Question about pain with intercourse

Hi, new to this board...
Anyway...Here goes...Im glad ya'll dont know know me, because this is embarrasing...
For the past 2.5 years since I have had my son, I cannot have intercourse without pain.
IT feels like I am losing my virginity every sigle time. I also bleed just a little every time I do. Even just a finger hurts me. It feels like someone is tearing me open every time. Also I cannot get uhm moist, I guess is how I can put it without being vulgar. But this is not the reason why it hurts though, because even when I use like KY, it still hurts ike crazy...
I lookd up PID, and it kinda sounds like what I have, and I have had an STD at one point in time, even though it was a long time ago. But I also read that if you have had an STD and you get an IUD put in, that puts you at a higher risk. Well, I also have an IUD.
I havent been able to get in to any of my logal gyno's because everyone is booked for the next few months. That is why I am looking for suggestions as to what it might be on the boards. I want to go in armed with ammo when I finally do go to the DR so I can let them know what I think they should test for. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks for reading this post if you made it all the way through. And to all who answer, thank you in advance!!

Becca

Re: Question about pain with intercourse

Hi there!

Well, having pain down there with sex is a symptom of many things, so this is what I think you should ask about/test for.

For starters, you need to rule out the possibility of an infection (yeast, bacterial vaginismus) or STD (chlamydia etc.). This is done with a vaginal smear, sometimes a urine sample too. Make sure the doc does that.

If it comes back positive for something, you have your answer.

If not, then consider pelvic problems or deeper disorders, such as PID or endometriosis. These would be accompanied by abdominal pain and period problems though, so if the pain is purely vaginal with intercourse, this may not be the prob.

The most likely (when infections are ruled out) is either Vaginismus, or Vestibulitis (vestibular syndrome/vulvodynia). Vaginismus is involuntary spasming of the muscles in your vagina when ur anticipating pain in sex, this may account for the blood, the pain, and the problems with even inserting a finger. Does it feel extrememly tight down there? that may be it. Vestibulitis is harder to diagnose - its what I have. Basically, teh nerves in the vagina have been traumatised or damaged due to a prior infection maybe, or just any vigorous movement down there (sex, birth maybe). You will need a specialist to diagnose this one. Symptoms include pain mainly on penetration, sometimes irritable when urinating, and pressure during sex on the walls of the vagina. It may be painful to insert a tampon. Usually, no blood though.

Good luck hope i helped!

Tyger.
