Re: can anal sex cause damage?

Generally, no, you can't damage yourself through anal sex. Obviously, if you're really brutal about it or don't use lubricants, you could tear the skin (or if you had it five times a day, every day). It's going to feel a little uncomfortable at first, but as long as you're not in pain, you'll be fine.

Be aware (if you and your bf haven't been tested) that it's a lot easier to transmit STDs through anal sex.

Re: can anal sex cause damage?

It totally depends on you, and your anatomy. Many, many people can have anal sex with only mild discomfort at first, or can become accustomed to it after some practice (i.e. finding the right position, lubes, etc.)

Unfortunately for myself, my first try was excrutiatuingly painful, and he didn't even fully penetrate. The second time was not any better, and on the third I had to tell him it was just never going to happen. But I'm still glad I gave it a shot, it meant a lot to my husband.

Try out some easier anal penetrations first, Fingers, small dildos...test the waters, so to speak. You definitely don't want to just jump right in. If that becomes comfortable for you, make sure you use LOTS of lube and relax relax relax...

Yes, anal sex can damage the tissue in the anus. If you use lubricants, you'll be okay. But wait until you get older, you'll have to pay the price for trying to experiment in your younger days! You'll be wearing Depends for Adults. It's just a fact of life, women, as we get older, we will lose control or not have enough control with the muscles down there.

Just try other vaginal positions. It will save your heartache later in life. But at the same time, practice safe sex. Make sure to shower after sex. Drink plenty of liquids. Take vitamins, eat yogurt, take AZO yeast, Rephresh gel, acidpholus pills, cranberry pills, and make sure to get tested every year that you are sexually active. If you're married to the person, get tested once a year.

Re: can anal sex cause damage?

Ditto what nasty1 said but also, don't do things to please your bf if you really don't want to do them. Is definitely not good to compromise yourself and your body for someone else's pleasure, no matter how much you care for that person.

Re: can anal sex cause damage?

Boy oh boy - am I abnormal? The thought of anal sex just horrifies me. I think you're great for even considering it! I agree with the person who suggested trying small things first, like fingers.

If you try fingers make sure his hands are clean and his nails are short. And use lots of lube. Even though I've never done anal I've heard that using lots of lube is very important.

By the way - I'm not trying to offend anyone by saying the idea of it horrifies me - I know it's a personal choice and some people love it and that's fine. They're obviously experiencing something great that I'll never experience because I'm such a coward!! and afraid of damaging myself!!

Really? I assume that you have experience with this and that right now you are wearing depends?

My experience hasn't been like that in the least.

Also, I've never had an STD and yet I don't usually shower after sex (just wash off a little.) I don't take vitamins, AZO yeast, rephresh gel, acidpholus pills, or cranberry pills. What is rephresh gel anyway? Is it one of those vaginal cleansers or a douche. You should never use those, they throw off your ph balance and can cause yeast infections.

Re: can anal sex cause damage?

I was scratching my head and wondering the same thing as you, Trystme.

I've enjoyed anal for 15+ years with my hubby (and, no, we don't get tested for STDs once a year -- we're monogamous), and I certainly don't wear Depends or have lost control of my, um, plumbing down there. If anything, I need to keep a careful watch on my fiber intake, as I do suffer from the ocassional bout of constipation and always have.

I don't shower after sex, either. Just a little tinkle in the ladies' room after an intimate session is all I've ever needed to sterilize everything downstairs.

For the OP, yes, at least with my experience, everything does go back to normal after

i never said i was young i am 26????plus i have no problem with vaginal positions as we have a very happy sex life. i am in a long term relationship so dont need to have tests we are both faithful. i dont shower after sex and dont see what good that would do anyway???i also dont take any of the things you recommend. i fail to see much relevance between my original post and your reply.

Re: can anal sex cause damage?

Sorry got carried away with the 2nd paragraph, but it's better to be safe than sorry. If its not a STD, its an infection. My friends talk about how, oops, their man's penis accidentally went in the wrong hole and they wound up with . . . UTI. Anyways, we should be practicing cleanliness.

My mother's a Registered Nurse and she tells me the sad stories of people who engaged in anal sex, even though they experienced it for years, they pay for it later.

But, I guess, everyone has their preferences despite the consequences later.

Re: can anal sex cause damage?

Make sure he wares a condom. If you don't like it, he can just out and take it off and go back to the "normal" sex. Try to relax. I didn't like it the first time I tried it. But with the right person, it can be very enjoyable. Best of luck. Kiesha

Re: can anal sex cause damage?

It does not cause damage. I've asked several Dr friends and my own personal doc and they all said the same thing. It doesn't cause damage, but due to the bacteria in that area you need to was before going back to the other side. But they said even if you don't wash, unless you have fecal matter, it shouldn't cause problems going in both without washing. Otherwise porn stars wouldn't last cause none of them take time to clean themselves before they go back to the norm. It's suggested that you do an emema or something to that effect before you have anal sex.
