frequent sex + no lube = yeast infection? - Sexual Health - Women Message Board

My boyfriend of 10 months, and I have been having frequent sex with and occasionally without a condom. Sometimes, when we're really into it, we don't bother using K-Y (bad idea) so after I end up feeling really sore after, and it hurts the next time we have sex.

Usually when that happens we hold off on sex a few days and let it heal... but recently it just won't heal... sex has become very painful, like a healing scab being irritated and stretched upon entry, and whenever I do use K-Y it burns like crazy... throughout the day it kind of itches on and off. Maybe it's because we go only three days without having sex, and I should give my vagina more time to heel?

Is it possible it developed into a yeast infection???

I tried using Monostat 3 but it only makes my vagina itch like crazy at night and I can't go to sleep. It's really upsetting... what can I do????

Do you have any discharge? Have you looked at yourself with a mirror? You should. Yeast infection is typically red with thick white discharge. You might also have a bacterial infection. Both can arise from irritation.

Monistat makes a lot of people itch more. That probably means you should avoid it.

If it's not healing, you should get it checked out. Hate to say it, but if you've been having sex without condom, could be STD. I know, he's a good boy, he'd never do that to you. Get checked anyway. He might not know. If you do have a yeast infection, they can culture it to find out for sure, and give medicine that won't irritate you more.

And you might want to avoid penetration until this resolves.
