Re: how long after a colposcopy do you have to wait to have sex
Yes, there is a waiting time, especially if the doctor does a pinch/punch biopsy at the time. Why? The doctor will remove (cut) part of the cervix. The cervix is very sensitive and can bleed a lot. After the biopsy, the doctor will apply some Monsel's solution to the cervix to stop the bleeding. The discharge looks like used coffee grounds. It can take up to a week for the discharge to stop, but it will takes another week or so before a woman can resume intercourse.
When I had my Colpo, my doctor didn't take a biopsy, but she did an ECC (endocervical canal). I didn't have to wait, but I was a little sore for a few days - so we refrained from sexual intercourse for about a week.
Re: how long after a colposcopy do you have to wait to have sex
If you want to avoid infection (and trust me, you do NOT want an infection in there!!) then you should wait a minimum of 2 weeks. I waited 3, myself, just to be on the safe side, and I'm glad I did.
It's up to you, of course, but you really should wait. I think you should wait, for sure.
