Can anyone please please help me? Since I first had sex at age 16 I have suffered from symptoms resembling yeast infections. As I have gotten older I now seem to have deep dyspareunia on top of this living hell.

my Dyspareunia-like symptoms:
-Pain when it comes to doing anything anything sexual:
-pain at the entranceway to the vagina
-sometimes, painful clitoris
-pain deep inside the vagina during sex (a deep aching sensation)
-pain upon thrusting

I have to use ice to cool down my skin after sex every time.

For a few days after sex there is an increase in the amount of discharge and itchiness.

Yes, I know it SOUNDS like a yeast infection, but having experienced them millions of times I can say that I am pretty sure I can tell the difference.
My TCM Dr suggested I may be allergic to a 'special bacteria' from the penis. But this has happened with every sexual partner I have had (that makes it sound like I've had heaps, but I haven't

I have also had a skin condition called Lichen Schlerosis
and I have HPV

I am more than depressed about it these days and would appreciate any help anyone can offer. The Drs don't seem to care about how this long term condition has affected my whole life and I am starting to hate sex

I have had the same partner for 5 and a half years. He is very patient and understanding about my variety of conditions but I just wish we could have the joy and freedom of pain free love making together!!!

You could ask your Dr. about having Vulvodynia. There's lots of info on it online and even on the health boards. Do a search. I hope you don't have it, b/c not every Dr. knows what it is and/or how to treat it. Best of luck to you.

Hi. I don't have words of advice, but I definitely can empathize and offer you words of encouragement. I have a similar condition, although it isn't fully diagnosed. My GP said it was Vulvodynia, he sent me to a specialist who says I have Vestibulitis.

My pain is not on the outside of the vagina, but on the inside, specifically right at the entrance to my vagina. The pain is so intense that I almost never have sex. 3 or 4 times a year is what I'm averaging. I haven't always had this- It started about 7 years ago. My other health conditions include that I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis and Genital Herpes. For a while I thought perhaps I had some sort of nerve damage from the herpes virus, but lately I've been leaning more towards thinking it's got more to do with my thyroid. Someone else with Hashi's told me they have a similar thing, so I'm wondering if maybe it's a rare side effect of hypothyroidism? I'm getting my thyroid treated now but lately I've developed a new symptom- it hurts to have an orgasm. Like, a physical aching. So I don't know, maybe I'm wrong.

My specialist has checked me for BV and yeast infection plus all the STD's, and I don't have any of that. I just have a very sensitive opening to my vagina, which the specialist says appears to be raw and sore upon visual examination...and this is during a time where I haven't had sex or any contact down there, so the rawness appears to be part of the problem.

I completely feel your frustration. Maybe someone will see your post and provide an answer, and maybe I'll get mine too. It would be so nice to enjoy sex again.

How I enjoy a more or less normal sex life with vulvar vestibulitis:

Lidocaine gel, in a pure base. It's actually a dental product, but my GYN prescribed it for me. I put a little bit on just as my husband puts on a condom. There's still a little pain, but the lidocaine works well enough that I enjoy it.

(The condom is a requirement when using lidocaine, otherwise your partner will get numb, too, which, ah, might be detrimental to his pleasure and performance.)

It sounds like my symptoms for vulvodynia and vaginal vasticulitis. I am about to start pelvic floor physical therapy and you might want to ask your doctor about that. It's a specialized area but once diagnosed there are options. I have dealt with this for 10 years before doctors sent me to specialist and the doctors didn't seem concerned and have tried to give me medicine for yeast and bv but never sought the real cause of the issues. Its a nerve issue which causes pain and can make your muscles incredibly tight and they can give you nortiptyline which is an antidepressant but used for chronic nerve pain.
