Olive oil for lubrication?

I have been having vaginal burning during sex.. we use plenty of lubrication but it still burns. I went to my ob/gyn yesterday she did not see any sign of infections. She did send it off to have it cultured. Anyway she told me to start using Olive Oil for lubrication. She said it will not cause infection. Has anyone used this? I also feel very hot down there. She said it could be from the friction or it could be my hormones since they just switched my bcp. Thanks

Re: Olive oil for lubrication?

I've heard of it (never tried it), so I think you can trust your doctor's advice.

Re: Olive oil for lubrication?

Hi well I think olive oil to give a slight bit more friction actually in my opinion than the slippery part of flax after seeds themselves have been strained out of the simmering water and thrown away.

Re: Olive oil for lubrication?

If you use condoms, don't use olive oil as it will deteriorate the condoms unless they are a non-latex variety. Also, you might try switching to a different type of lube.

Re: Olive oil for lubrication?

One alternative solution my partner and I have came across was Coconut Oil. It doesn't stain and last a long time. My partner and I have had the same problem and were looking for something more natural. We've been getting ours from a local company called U and Me Time. It's worth a try.

Re: Olive oil for lubrication?

Olive oil and coconut oil are both good lubricants for intercourse as long as you don't rely on condoms ( you stated that you are on the the bcp and have recently changed bcp's that may have aggivated your dryness ). The molecular structure of both oils are smaller than other oils and can penitrate and remain in the skin longer giving you a more long lasting moister supply. You can even apply a small amount before going to bed at night. If you are still uneasy about using oil, you can also try K-Y Silk E and is very effective, safe for condom use but it's more expensive and very runny/watery-a little goes a long way.
