Strange reaction to orgasm

Hello,

I'm not a particularly paranoid person, but as I've recently become sexually active, I have discovered an odd reaction of my body to an orgasm. I had my first one about a week ago (or at least, I think it was an orgasm). A lot of what I've read says you'll know the precise moment that you have one, but I can't seem to process it as one moment of a reaction. It's more like a continuous thing. What I do know, is that when I have a particularly powerful one, my hands from the elbow down, my nose, and my lips all go completely numb. That's the strange reaction I'm talking about. Does anyone else experience this, or has anyone heard of it happening before? While it's kind of exciting, it also kind of freaks me out because for about ten minutes, I have little to no control over those parts of my body. Fortunately the guy I'm with is very respectful and takes it as a compliment that I get so tingly I can't even move my mouth.

Anyway, I just wanted to see if I'm completely alone in this reaction, and if I should be worried about it at all. Thanks in advance for your perspective.

Re: Strange reaction to orgasm

I have to say, I've never heard of that before and it sort of concerns me, too.
I think that if I were you I would go to the gynecologist for a check up and explain your situation. Does the numbness last a long time? Are you having any issues about being sexual, that once you orgasm you are actually in panic mode?

best wishes, Sue

Re: Strange reaction to orgasm

No, no issues being sexual at all. I'm one of those weird girls that's pretty much in the mood all the time, and the numbness doesn't really affect that. It usually lasts between 5-10 minutes. I don't panic about it all (too blissed out to, honestly) and since there's no pain or anything, I didn't think I had to worry too much about it. I think it might be caused by holding those muscles in a lot of tension unconsciously, but I'm not sure. I may make an appointment with the doctor just to get checked out. I just had a bad experience with a doctor when I was younger doing a "female" exam, and it's made me never want to go back, unfortunately. Hopefully I can find a good female gyno.

Re: Strange reaction to orgasm

I wouldn't be TOO concerned, if you develop abdominal pain after orgasming then I'd worry a lot more. Orgasms can make lots of womens body parts go numb, some cases the feet, legs, and can make them feel weak after. I consider your reaction pretty normal, but that's just me.
