ok, here's my long winded story that explains why i'm so concerned about getting 2 yeast infections in the past 3 months.......
i was diagnosed with clamydia last march 2002 after the condom came off with this guy i was dating.... was treated for 5 weeks with antibiotics till it finally went away... at the same time i became pregnant by this guy....... (only had 2 encounters with him, both times condom came off)..... anyway, was seeing my doc weekly (or so it seemed)... had a pap, of course came back abnormal..... ended the pregnancy...... re-tested for chlamydia.... came back negative.... had a colposcopy... where the doc clipped a piece of my cervix to look at under a microscope.... came back with dramatic improvements from my pap... which i would say had everything to do with the std being gone......had an hiv test done... came back negative........
ANYWAY, i started dating my fiancee back in may 2002.... didn't have sex with him until a few months into it..... for obvious reasons..... i had another pap done in october 2002, showing again,... more improvements.... it wasn't "normal" yet... but, showed improvements....
and finally here's my question..... i've had 3 yeast infections in the past 5 months...... i've gotten them before.. but, i'd say on average .. one a year..... getting 3 in 5 months just throws up a red flag to me.... it's not an std.... i'm carefully monitored for them... AND we always use condoms... and make sure they stay on... always...... i'm sure noone has gone thru exactly what i have... but, i'm wondering if this is just something to do with ... #1 my hormones all out of whack.... #2 using spermicide condoms...... (which i never used before.. only the normal condoms)..... # 3 tight clothing.... i know yeast infections do happen for all these reasons.... but, seeing my history last year.... it makes me nervous....
Many things can cause them.
Tight clothes, douching, bubble bath, anything that upsets your bodies ph levels. From what I have learned over the years, spermicide can cause them, as well as for some women latex can trigger them. That is one reason I went back on the pill. Which I have learned recently can cause them too (knock on wood) I have been lucky so far. I am not sure about diet, but stress can cause them too. And not to scare you hun, but being pregnant cause two of the worst ones I ever had.

thanks for your response...... i think i just don't want to believe after all i went thru "down there" last year... that now i have to live with recurrent yeast infections for really no good reason..... i have 2 children... and in neither pregnancy did i have yeast infections..... and i've gotten my period these last 5 months..... i thought at first... "well, maybe...."... but, i'm not pregnant...... that pregnancy back in march of last year i terminated... which is yet another long drama story.....
i had a friend in high school who always got yeast infections... it seemed like every month.... and she was no where near having any kind of std or anything like that... so, to make my mind at ease.. i'm thinking my body has just changed and now i'm plagued with yeast infections.... of course i'm going to stop using spermicide.. see if that works... and stop wearing thongs...although i HATE panty lines... but, for experimental sake... i'll stop wearing them....
i'm now cramping a bit today, and shouldn't be ovulating till this coming weekend... so, now i'm thinking this is all hormonal..... ?? who knows... i go to my doc's at the end of this month.. hopefully he can put my mind at ease.... it's awful going thru what i did to begin with... but, then whenever anything foreign happens "down there".... i'm all paranoid...
I totally know how you feel... for the past two years, I've gotten yeast infections, on average about one every 2 months. then this summer, they started gettingless frequent, untill now I have one about every 4 months. I don't get it. My discharge is think and white, but it has always been like that, for as long as I can remember getting on the pill when I was 15 ( i'm 20 now). The only think I notice with them is painful sex and an itchy feeling that comes and goes. they are so mild sometimes I'm not even sure I have them till I have sex and it burns. I was only with one guy when I started geting them, and we were both virgins, so STDS are not anyhting to be worreid about. my boyfriend loves the taste and smell of me down there all the time, so if there was something horribly wrong, I think he would know.
when I was about 15 I had one when I went on anitbitics, and WOW it was HORRIBLE. these are nothing like them, being so much milder. This all started again with antibitics two years ago. I just don;t get it. Im getting tired of treating this and I just want it to go away. I do wear tight clothing but I really don't want to give that up!
what do you all think? do you all get itchy sometimes and sensitive occasionally? I Dont know what to do. i'm going to my doc sometime this month.
One thing I found that really helps is I sleep without any panties. The air getting to that area seems to help a lot as yeast like a moist dark place. Can't do much about the dark, but at least I can make it a little dryer. You might try poweder too when you have to wear panites, but make sure is made for down there. Parfumes are NOT a good thing!
