hi, any help would be needed. thanks

last Wednesday(the 8th) my boyfriend and i were having sex, the condom broke(we didnt notice until he accidently slipped out), but he hasnt yet came, just pre(i know that could get you pregnant)..i'm on the pill but i just started on the pill the 3rd of this month. Is there any chance that i can get pregnant? we are both pretty freaked out, no wedidnt go get the morning afterpill either, because we both thought it would be ok....but his friend was saying something about how birthcontrol doesnt start work til after a month...any comments or questions will be appricated,thanks for listening.

There is a chance,no one can give you exact numbers but there is a chance.
BC pills normally can take about two weeks to a month to be effective in preventing pregnancy.
For the time being you are just going to have to wait and see if your period comes or not and take a test to see what the results are.

Yup, unfortunately there is a chance. But it's a small one. As to birth control pills not working until after a month, the manufacturers usually tell you to use another form of birth control for the first month or two because your body may take a cycle or two to get used to it, but for many it works right away. It's just an added precaution. Also in your favor is that he didn't ejeculate. Anyway, there isn't much you can do about it now, just keep taking your pills and wait to see if your period starts...

Um, my ladies pills act after 7 days, they suggest using alternate forms of BC for the first week. But it also states that your protected from the first day. This is from the little pamphlet she got with it, we went over it together.

Apollo that is for your gf's BC. Also most doctors will say a month so the person is in the habit of taking them and to give the body a chance to start adjusting. Also that some women during the first month arent in the habit of taking them at the same time every day. Most times there is an hour window but when one starts messing with the time frame you increase you risks of pregnancy. Especially with the lower dose pills and mini pills. The mini pills especially have to be taken at the exact same time every day.
For some women even if the insert says otherwise they may not be protected due to how their body reacts to the pill.
