By the time you reach adulthood, most people have had CMV without actually knowing it - it's just like having a bad cold.
Immunocompromised patients should be tested for it as it is more serious if they become infected - as well as pregnant women, although where I am, testing for it is not a routine antenatal test.
For most people it is nothing to worry about
