Gay man here, nervous about genital warts - Sexually Transmitted Diseases Message Board

Hello,

I played with a guy who rimmed me about a week and a half ago. I developed a rash around my anus and am worried its genital warts. It kinda burns and is uncomfortable but from everything I read about warts they dont get irritated, burny or itchy. Can you get these from licking and such? Sorry if it sounds gross to anyone. The guy told me he was clean and safe, of course I believed him (stupid me). I have also had a really bad case of hemorrhiods lately also. This could be the problem too. Anybody know anything about genital warts. I didn't see any on his penis and he didn't have any sores on his face.

Please let me know what you think? Am I being a hypo.?

It doesn't sound like warts.....and warts in the mouth are quite rare too (your partner would have had to be infected orally with them to pass it to you this way) It sound more like herpes to me. That's how I got herpes....from someone who was infected orally's mouth. He happed to have "rimmed" me too, and that's how my first herpes outbreak started out....a red rash that was burny and irritated, around my anus. You should go get check out now, while your symptoms are still present, as if you wait to long after the symptoms show, a test may show a false positive. Good luck.

Yodiggity-
Its ok! Even if it is herpes, you will be ok. The shock and inital feelings will go away. If you are really worried about it, you SHOULD go to the doctor ( i know i would feel embarrassed or soemthing) But you could also ask this guy if he has had any cold sores on his mouth.. bc that is herpes and most people do have it orally. ANd the number of people who have genital herpes is rising quickly .. a lot of people have it. (more than one of my close friends have it .. and those are only the ones who have told me)
Yes, life will not be exactly the same.. but you will learn to be safer and not to have meaningless sex. That is what my HPV has taught me, and i thank god it didnt take something worse like HIV to teach me that the way i was living my life was wrong. Dont feel like an idiot.. it could happen to anyone!

Keep us posted on how it goes at the doctor if you decide to go!

Please know Yodiggity, I am in no way giving you a diagnosis. What you have may not be herpes at all...only a doctor will be able to give you a proper diagnosis. Did you see your doctor and get a test done?
