Another molloscum question

I noticed, what I thought were ingrown/infected hairs for awhile now. I have been dating the same guy (and have only been w/ him sexually) for 2years now. I finally mentioned it to the doc since 2 were getting noticably larger and were sore. He said I had molloscum. I really couldn't tell him how long I had been noticing them. They seemed to come and go. Shaving always irritated them, that's why I thought they were razorburn/ingrown hairs.
I have closely monitored my bf and he is just now breaking out with them. He has 2. The ones that got large and sore went away on me and I'm left with 2very small ones.
I read somewhere that OTC wart medicine was good to put on them. I bought some compound W and it seems to be drying the 2small ones (one on each thigh) up. Is it possible for me to have had this for longer than 2years and still be breaking out with them? I also read that progressive and a lot of them could mean HIV, I was recently tested and it was neg. So, I'm not worried about that.
I'm just wondering how I could have had them for 2 or more years and they haven't went away yet. And since I have been broke out with them for so long why is my bf just now, after 2years, breaking out with them? Any input?

Re: Another molloscum question

I am recently suffering with molloscum right now. They are really small not big enough to burn off. I got them because my ex cheated on me with some girl in late december. Mine started showing up in early february. They usually take 6-10 weeks to show up. You can get them from sharing towels or close contact to other bodies. Its really easy to get. Think back 6-10 weeks before you started noticing them. thats probably how you got them. I heard of a lot of things to get rid of them. My ex keeps putting isopr. alcohol on them and it is helping him. I went to my gyn and she proscribed me aldera cream. I've only been on it for a week and i dont notice any changes. She also told me it was ok to shave but i dont know about it. I have been shaving but it seems like it is spreading them. I'm not sure. I've been cleaning with alcohol every night. I also thought i was getting one on my thigh and i read somewhere that putting clear nail polish on it would keep it from spreading. I tried it and that one seemed to go away. I am hesitant to put it on my genital region though. I read somewhere that popping them would help them heal faster. I popped 2 of them and they bled really bad and it doesnt seem to be helping them go away any faster. I'm not sure what to do. Thats everything i have tried. I am very confused on which are normal bumps and which are molloscum or ingrown hairs/pimples... etc... I would like to keep in contact with you and see what you try and what works for you. I heard that the over the counter wart removers could cause permanent scarring. I would see a doctor and ask them. Let me know what you find out, it could be very useful for me. I do know some stuff about this virus though, so if you have any other questions dont hesitate to ask.

Re: Another molloscum question

My doctor told me they generally show up about 6 months after infection, but I don't know how correct that is, and I am sure it is different for different people.
