OK..what is this????

I was told awhile back that I had HPV. Well....after I had a colposcopy(sp?) my dr. never said anything else about it and never followed up on it. I went into denial and almost "forgot" (of course deliberatly) about it. Untill a few months ago I started getting these red cyst looking things around the opening of my vagina. They are red and inflamed looking....usually last about a week and 1/2. Sometimes they itch sometimes they hurt. Sometimes you can squeeze them and puss comes out but most times there is no puss.

Well now I have these two "things" on my anus almost inside but still outside...they hurt so bad that I can barely walk!!!!! I can squeeze them and there is almost brown looking blood coming out and it burns whenever I touch it..wash down there...or urinate. But, that is only on the ones on my bum.

There is one at the moment on my inner thigh that almost looks like it has a small indent in the middle??? I'm so confused as what these can be..can anyone shed some light? I know you can't diagnose me but any idea?

Re: OK..what is this????

Yeah, what this sounds like is Molloscum contagiousum. Look at the other posts about it. It is characterized by the small indent in the middle. If it has an indent this is what it probably is. A lot of people actually get misdiagnosed with other things when they have this. It is not a big deal. It is a pox virus, it takes a while to clear up but there are certain cautions you can take. Make sure you dont itch them and try not to pop them unless you cleanse the area very well before and aftwards. They spread VERY VERY easily!!! They usually take about 1-6 weeks to show up. Your doctor can give you cream like aldera cream or they can freeze them off or scrape them off. I have this. I have tried aldera and it didnt work for me so now i am getting them frozen off, it doesnt hurt. They will go away on thier own also if you leave them alone, but it might take a while. Just make sure to take great precautions when touching them so you dont spread them. Ask your doctor about molloscum, because this is what it sounds like to me. Also, molloscum generally bleed a lot when you pop them, has this happened to you? Good luck.

another question.... do you shave?

Re: OK..what is this????

Thank you so much for replying...I shave every once in a while...mostly just trim the hair though. The two that are on my rectum (when I touch them with toilet paper) bleed almost brown looking blood. There is one on the insided of my thigh that is almost purple and has a tiny little dimple/indent in the middle..it doesn't really hurt just is a little tender. It also looks like the skin might be cracking or scaling... I hope that these are just molluscum because I was scared it might be herpes or something else! Can I ask you a question...

What are the characteristics of herpes vs. molluscum?

Re: OK..what is this????

as far as i know herpes doesnt resemble anything like molluscum. however hpv closely does. in fact i am still confused and unsure of what i have. youre fortunate enough to know what you have.

Re: OK..what is this????

my advice is to stop shaving anywhere that you have bumps until they go away because they are spread that way. Mine were almost gone and then my gyn told me that i could shave, and as soon as i did they all came back. Also, I'm not an expert at herpes but look up website on it, they should have pictures and everything. It wouldnt hurt to ask your doctor too. Tell them that you think it might be molloscum and have them look at it. If you have one on your thigh you can also even ask a dermatologist.
