| Re: pregnancy and std... please help!!!
i'm 5 months pregnant right now and the tests I had to do were really scary. But I just thought "hey, if i have something i need to know now so I can get treated as soon as possible and get the best proper care so I can be healthy for not only me but espcially my baby." Even though you have no symptoms doesn't mean you don't have an STD. Alot of women have STD's and don't know it. A friend of mine found out she had Chlamydia when she was pregnant and it's good that she found out earlier on because the Dr. prescribed her a weeks worth of Amoxicilan to take 3 times a day and a month later when they did another culture it was gone. She delivered a beautiful healthy girl. I think though the HIV test was the worst for me. It didn't help going alone either. My fiance' couldn't get the day off and it was my first prenatal appointment. I had no idea what was going on or what to expect. They laughed at me when they asked if I wanted to have the HIV test done because it was mandatory that they offer it. I didn't have to take it, but it was mandatory for them to let me know they offer it. I'm the kind of person that if i have something, i'd rather not know! lol* So I froze in the chair and kinda just mumbled "well...okay if I look like i have HIV" i remember getting home and crying and calling my fiance. I didn't have alot of unprotected partners, but that's still no excuse...even having sex unprotected one time is all it takes and I was so sure it was gonna come back positive. (thinking of course that's just my luck) I would dream about it and think "OMG! It's a sign." Sure enough, i'm fine. It's a relief though somewhat to know that there are so many medical breakthroughs to help cure what couldn't be cured back some odd years ago. So many advancements we have to be thankful for. Try not to worry about it too much or your gonna make yourself sick and then eventually you'r gonna convince yourself that your experiencing symptoms. Good luck!
