WHAT ARE POSSIBILITYS OF GIVING AN STD TO YOUR CHILD THROUGH CHILD BIRTH

AND WOULD A C-SECTION REALLY PREVENT THEM FROM GETTIN IT

just a few things ive been wondering lately feel free to respond

You can give your child an STD through birth. Especially HIV and AIDS because they are passed through the blood stream which goes directly to the child.
HPV can also be given to a child through vaginal child birth because the vagina will have genital herpes in it that the baby can contract.
Gonorrhea can also be given to a child through birth. The child will have irritation on the genitals and may even get it in their eyes.
Some STDs can be prevented from being passed on through c-section while others cannot because they are passed through the blood stream.

hpv..genital herpes?? I dont understand how you have genital herpes when you have hpv?? I never heard of that,,,I have heard of warts and I have heard of the cancerous kind of hpv which is a virus in ur system but never heard of genital herpes ,,please explain what is contracted in childbirth when it comes to hpv...thank you

HPV (human papilloma virus) and herpes are different STIs caused by different viruses. Some strains of HPV can cause genital warts. Generally, herpes sores and genital warts look very different, and a doc can tell the difference.

Many STIs can be transmitted from mother to child during pregnancy or childbirth. Some are transmitted through the blood stream (such as HIV). Some are transmitted in the birth canal, and having a C-section might lower the chances or even prevent this. All pregnant women should be checked for STIs.

I think Mecpcpj was probably thinking of herpes and C-section. Women who give birth during an active herpes outbreak can (rarely) pass it to the child who can then develop herpes of the central nervous system. A C-section might prevent this, and a pregnant woman who is not having an active outbreak might be able to have a vaginal birth.

This is a very complex issue, and there are many variables. You should probably talk with your ob about all of this.
