Resistent Chlamydia Infections? - Sexually Transmitted Diseases Message Board

I found out a week ago that I picked up an infection with Chlamydia about two months ago. I had been having really bad symptoms for roughly two months before I actually got this diagnosis through a positive urine culture. You see I have had chronic prostatitis for 6 years, so I kept telling myself that the symptoms were just that. However, eventually I realized that this was something that I really needed to take car of.

Anyways, now I have been on doxycycline for one week but the symptoms have really not gotten much better. The doctor wants me to take two more weeks worth just to make sure we knock it out.

My question is have any of you had a case that was reluctant to get better? I would have thought after a week of antibiotics that i would be better, but I am not. Does it take a while for the urethra to heal and become uninflamed sometimes even after the bacteria is gone?

stop taking the doxy that will only make you feel better temporaly but will eventually reaccure ,, i had that same problem your having for 7 years ,,take these meds called also dont have sex for thrity days no masterbating no drinking no smoking no nothing yeah i know its hard but its your health .. take 1 twice a day for 30 days .. you will fell better but just keep taking them .. the pills are called trimethoprim/sulfamethox/ that doxy works but for some reason the infection would always come back as for me .. good luck

There ares some resistant strains of chlamydia out there that doxycycline is no longer especially effective against. Follow your doctor's advice and if the doxy doesn't lick it, he will prescribe something else. There are even strains resistant to azithromycin, ofloxacin and sulfadiazine, which is not a good thing.

Please, start using condoms!
