Hi everyone. I don't know where else to post this, so I'm starting here. Back in late October, I started having a sexual relationship with an old friend of mine. I figured I could trust him, that he'd be clean, so like an idiot I never really probed that deeply into his sexual history. Well, I'm regretting that now, seeing as how it's probable that he's been sleeping with other women since we got together, so now I'm terribly paranoid that I've contracted something as a result of my naive trust in him.

What started it was two UTI's in one month. The first happened in early December and was confirmed through urinalysis to be bacterial and I was put on Nitrofurantoin. The second hit me on Christmas Eve and again, it was confirmed through urinalysis and culture and I was put on 500mg of cipro twice a day for a week. Both UTI's happened within 24 hours of having sex, which is typical from what I understand. And while I've had plenty of UTI's in my lifetime, two in one month seems excessive. Now I'm having some strange pains in my abdomen (I finished the cipro last Friday). I had a pelvic exam done on Monday and told the NP to test me for chlamydia and gonnohrea, but I won't hear back from the doctor's office until next week at the earliest. In the meantime, I'm going out of my skull with worry.

New among my host of worries is herpes... Way back in early November, I noticed a rough patch on the head of his penis while giving him oral sex. I had performed oral sex on him a day or two prior and not noticed anything then, and I had been perhaps a little excessive with the sucking that first time around. I passed the rough patch off as being a result of the earlier oral sex and neither of us spoke about it. There's been no rough patch since then that I've noticed. Now, I haven't developed anything on my body that would look like herpes in the last 2 months, so I'm hoping this is just one more thing my mind is going crazy over that isn't really a problem. From what I've heard and read, most herpes outbreaks happen within 2-20 days of infection. I'm pretty in touch with my body (not afraid to break out the mirror and do my own inspection) and the NP didn't mention anything was amiss or looked suspicious when I was seen on Monday.

Do you think that the strange pain in my abdomen and the general itchy feeling around my vagina could be a yeast infection from the cipro? It's been a while since I've had one, but the symptoms could be anything from my own imagination to chlamydia to herpes to god knows what!

I'm feeling like a complete fool for not being more cautious with this guy.
